Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Yey.......2004-04-05

Ok, I saw them at the Distillers show a couple of days ago and they were awesome! It was so much fun to mosh to...they were one of the best acts. The songs are well crafted and addictive. <33

5 out of 5 stars Hasn't left my CD player in weeks.......2004-02-18

This CD rocks. Sometimes it rolls. Other times it just plain smacks you in the head. Original songwriting, creative instumentation, genre-bending cuts all combine to make this a breakthrough release for the newest "Bad Boys from Boston". Pick up their other two releases "Animals" and "Gwylo" if you can find them.

5 out of 5 stars so hot.......2004-02-04

have you ever seen these boys? they are so hot.

5 out of 5 stars offbeat punk, as opposed to kiddie mall-punk.......2004-01-12

Ok, this record is going to confuse the kids, and i'll tell you why: it'll go right over their heads. It's on Tarantualas Records, which is run by up-and-coming punks The Explosion. A fabulous band in their own right, The Explosion seems to have an interest in taking bands they are familiar with that don't recieve alot of attention, and trying to give them some exposure. Such is the case here, with these two bands touring together, supporting The Distillers. I think this is a noble cause, and respect both bands for taking the leap. However, that doesn't change the fact that your average fan at a Distillers/Explosion show is going to be let down by The Lot Six's recordings. This record is intelligent, soulful, and musically diverse. Not exactly what the kids want, despite what they might claim.
Instrumentally, we have the usual fare: guitars, bass and percussion. But then: some trombone, steel pedal guitar, keys and trumpet. All put together differently for each song, portraying actual..(brace yourself) ...CREATIVITY and SINCERITY. Every song has a different feel, while maintaining a cohesive feel throughout the album, which is nice for a change. Those in search of a little more THOUGHT and ART in their punk than they've been able to find lately should be pleased.
The bottom line is that if you're an aging punk (25+), you may well appreciate this band, because they hearken back to a time when punk could be thoughtful and musically all-over-the-place, before the "spoiled-13-year-old" scene police even existed . But if you are firmly entrenched in the world of songs about girlfriends, wacky party exploits, and unfair homework assignments, alongside the usual sloppy, three-chord, mid-to-fast tempo guitar drudgery, as most spoiled 13-year-olds are, you probably won't get a thing out of these guys.
