Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A Strong Bonnie Record!.......2006-01-18

If this lp had sold better I bet the reviews for this would be different...

Nine Lives is a great record from Bonnie Raitt, just because it's a different sounding record from her doesn't mean it isn't good.. this has a great 80's sound which shows what was happening musically during this time period and Bonnie vocals are strong, 'No Way To Treat A Lady' is a great rocker!
'Who but a fool' has a nice groove(this was also recorded by Gladys Knight & The Pips on their 'All Our Love' lp),
'Crime of passion' what a story...'Stand up to the night' & 'Excited' great 80's sounding sound..

and the wonderful country flavored 'Angel'.

and my favorite 'All Day, All Night' how I love this song!!
Nine Lives is one of my favorite Bonnie records, I would like for her to do another CD with this type of sound. This record has been unfairly reviewed through the years, if you don't have this one add it to your collection.

5 out of 5 stars 5 Stars is not enough!.......2004-11-17

This is definitely Bonnie's hardest rocking release to date. It also is one of the best produced and features some of the best musicians in the business augmenting these incredible and catchy tunes. This album features Bill Payne of Little feat (the best session keyboardist in the business), Micheal Landau (the best session guitarist in the business, Lenny Castro (the most famous percussionist in the business, and the "legendary" Tower of Power horn section! Need i say more? I have been a fan of Bonnie's for years and, along with "Green Light", this is my favorite recording by her. Just listen to the first three song samples and you won't need anymore convincing. The slide guitar fill-ins on "Come Running Back to Me" are the most tastefull I've ever heard. I would love to see and hear her perform some of these songs live. I hope the video tapes are sitting in a vault somewhere, waiting to be released. How anybody could give this CD only one star is beyond me. I guess they are more comfortable with the rough raw blues woman image of her....sittin in the corner, chewing tobacco, picking her nose, playing country blues on a one string dobro, and tootin during every chorus!

4 out of 5 stars A UNDER RATED BONNIE RAITT CD.......should be 4 1/2 stars.......2004-05-17

I've had this CD for years,it was my frist Bonnie Raitt CD. I'd play it all the time. I disagree with the reviewed that gave one only 1 star, this CD has a lot of GREAT SONGS like,NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY,RUNNIN BACK TO ME,CRIME OF PASSION and others .....I think this CD was over looked by the music industry, (a canidate for a grammy). If you like her Grammy CD's like,NICK OF TIME,AND LUCK OF THE DRAW,than you'll like this one, so buy it,and you'll hear Great songs that you just don't hear on the radio. I also love her other CD's that has Blues & Blues/Rock songs on it.......I'm waiting for a CD that has ALL BLUES,BLUES/ROCK on it from Bonnie....I would buy it up in a hart beat,a good title would be, THE QUEEN OF SLIDE(because she so great at side guitar),or THE QUEEN OF BLUES. Bonnie's helping keeping the blues alive!!! Have a Great time Shopping.

1 out of 5 stars Nine lives she's got.......2002-02-18

Every 70's artist should be allowed one bad album in the 80's. Bonnie Raitt used it up here and moved on to much greater things, eg Nick Of Time & the Grammys.
First time on CD though, so it's great for fans.

3 out of 5 stars End of the line.................2000-05-01

I have to agree with the other reviews in regards to the overall quality of this. The sound of this whole mixed bag of tunes was way off for Bonnie Raitt and I believe she did what she could to regroup herself after the dissapointment in not being able to release her "Tounge and Groove" project in 1983 and only some of the songs made it to this, for the most part, failed effort. Everytime I hear "True love is hard to find" and hear the great Sippie Wallace singing background
