A Really Weak Sophmore Album by an Amasing Band.......2006-06-29
despite the Cliche band name, Dust To Dust's debut album was absolutly incredible. The band has deep stacatto guitars that enrich the music with a Post Grunge alternative feel while each song has its own elbarotate Synth background to create an eerie almost gothic feeling. The songs have such power and emotion behind them while the chrous's stick to an almost Classic rock Melodic scale. Rob's voice is excilent for the band and the music is beautifully done.
The Seccond album looses the synth and all the emotion that the first album used so well. The songs keep their classic sounding Chorus's but no longer have any clashing eerie elaborate melodies behind them. It's just a plain hard rock album with almost a Pop feel to some of the melodies. Sick and Pusher are easily the best songs on the album. If your a major fan of Dust to Dust, get the album and help them out. But.. It's nothing Special.
If you love Dust to Dust, You'll love similar Band "Speak No Evil" Check em out!!
NO ClUE.......2005-08-26
I seen these guys whenthey opened fir type-o a few years ago, and they pretty much suck live, everyone booed em and thought they sucked. But for some reason i got their first cd, its really not that bad, maybe they had a bad night in clifton park??? no idea, but they still suck live, dont recommened them, they need to come A LONG way before they get good, part of being a good band is being good live. Just found out they have another cd like 2 mins. ago, so ill prob buy it for the hell of it, see if they progressed. so all in all, their first cd is definetly good, and they used ta suck live, other then that, i have no clue
nowhere as good as the first cd........2004-02-03
after seeing these guys perform at nyc's continental club, i was anxious to listen to their next release, but SICK did not exceed my expectations. the music/songs are much somber and mellow than the first and where's the keyboards rob??? the snytherzier sound was on of DTD'S strongest assets next to traynor's vocals.
sick (the song itself ) was cool and just when you think the rest of the songs would have momentum,(like supadupamachoman; a justified attack on today's narcist, chauvanist, egocentric young males ) it starts to slow down
with tunes like bluesky lie and shame.(but HIGH was pretty good.) if your'e expecting killer songs from the first cd like stay away, submission, dead inside,mr.doe..you will be sorely disapointed just as i was.
it's sad to see a NU-METAL band go the way of the over ballardesque OLEANDER.but at least it's not as whiny as NICKLEBACK or STAID. i doubt after this, they'll cut another album.especially since traynor is forming a new band called SKYND. IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED.."ashes to ashes, dust to dust"
Second release from a decent underground group.......2003-10-04
This is the second release from underground group Dust To Dust. This album marks some changes for the group. For one, two band members left, they now are on a small label, and they cut out almost all of the keyboards. This album features guest guitars (in four songs) by Type O Negative axeman Kenny Hickey, and you can tell which four songs merely by hearing them. I wouldn't say this album is suprerior or inferior to the first album, afterall, both albums have 12 tracks, and both albums I enjoy 8 of them. It's different in almost every way, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but it's still a great second release from this group. The highlights include "Rot", "Think About", and "Cursed". As I've said in the review of their first album, if you like underground hard rock, and are tired of what you hear on the radio, then listen to tese guys, you might not be amazed, but you likely won't be dissappointed, either.
