Customer Reviews:
Very unique and creative.......2005-04-24
I've been trying for the past few days to coax forth from my brain the words necessary to explain to you, the reader, what to expect in this album. However, a satisfactory characterization eludes me, because this isn't quite like anything else out there. There are riffs that recall Mogwai, or The Mars Volta, or even Dream Theater, but only ever fleetingly. And I can't say for certain that if you like those bands, you'll like this; however, there's no real reason anyone should dislike this. Ultimately, if you're looking for something different, for music that is actually quite beautiful but also complex, for a change of pace from what the radio or MTV crams down your throat, then give this album a try.
These guys might be good if they had vocals.......2004-10-20
What the hell is this crap? No vocals? How these guys ever got signed is beyond me. Get a singer and maybe I might enjoy this shlock garbage.
very beautiful instrumental music.......2004-08-06
this album is amazing from start to finish. anyone who really appreciates music will probably enjoy this. the whole look and feel of the album and the music is so beautiful.....themes of alienation and despair within such a crazy system of capitalism and the commodification of everything...even music...which ends up becoming insincere and more of a product than real creativity. this album is very much the latter. at times very busy and technical other times very sparse and gentle...has jazzy parts and mathy parts. buy this. support this band.
turn off the radio.......2003-01-07
fortunately in atlanta there is a college radio station that plays worthy music once in awhile / this is where i heard cc and eventually bought the album / this album is original and quality if you have any ear at all
Fantastic, eclectic music........2003-01-05
The Cancer Conspiracy are currently one of my favorite bands because of the broad range of music in which they dabble. While it's not always very cohesive (because of their use of ever-shifting musical motives), this album is a breathtaking listen; and the fact that this entire effort was put together by only 3 individuals only further solidifies just how incredible this CD is. It's this kind of CD that causes my tendency to write reviews using a bunch of hybrid analogies (math rock crossed with bits and pieces of bebop and maybe some Pink Floyd or Mogwai, possibly) to dwindle.
