A breath of fresh air........2003-06-03
After hearing "No Ordinary Girl" on the Bounce soundtrack and falling in love with it, I went to Anika Paris's website (anikaparis.com) to listen to more of her music. It took just a few seconds of "It's About" to convince me I had to buy "On Gardner Street," ASAP, and the album has repaid my every expectation. Anika has terrific range, both vocally and stylistically, from the elegant Sarah McLachlan-style piano ballads to high-energy music for highway driving. She's equally at home with the ethereal, angelic pitch of "Sleepless Nights" and belted-out rock choruses. Like Grey Eye Glances, she has a talent for creating music that's uplifting and melodic without being sugary, empty pop. If you like good female vocalists without a lot of electronic flourishes, be sure to check Anika out. You'll be glad you did.
Simple, Sincerely, and Amazing.......2001-12-11
This has to be one of the most amazing album I have ever heard. No, its not ground break, but the sincerity expressed in each song is undoubtly real, and you can feel it.
(...) This album has been out since middle of 2000, and the fact the stores are not carrying this probably explain why so few people know about this.
After watching the movie "Bounce", I bought the movie album(songs inspired by the movie). And Anika's song "I'm No Ordinary Girl" caught my attention immediately. Suprisingly, almost every song on this album is great. The tunes are catchy, the lyric are simple and expressive, and the voice is simply sincere.
The standing out tracks are:
I'm No Ordinary Girl
London Bridge
Why
Give Me The Strength
Feeling High
Its hard to pick out tracks, since they are all equally good.
I don't know how else to help others to listen to this album since most of the major stores either don't carry it or don't have it in stock. The only thing I can say is trust my words. A few of my Favorite artists are Sarah Mclachlan, Dido, Fiona Apple, Michelle Branch. And I only buy album thats truely worth the money. Anika Paris' "On Gardner Street" is definitely worth buying.

What a wonderfully bubbly album! It's bound to make you feel good on a long drive or a bike ride on the beach! Great talent with beautiful songs! If you like bands like Sixpence None The Richer or Moonpools and Caterpillars, you MUST add this to your collection!
