Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!.......2004-06-16

I just saw Pleasure Club play at The Viper Room in Los Angeles. What an amazing show! If you think the album is good....just wait 'til you see these guys live. Absolutely phenomenal!!

5 out of 5 stars the greatest rock and roll band on the planet!.......2004-05-31

fact: pleasure club are currently the best rock n roll band in the world.
buy this album. you will not be disappointed.
first tune 'hey hey hey' blasts out of the speakers and drags you by the throat into a mix of buzzsaw guitars, fat bottom bass and funky as f**k skin pounding courtesy of marc hutner, grant curry and michael jerome. by the time the first bridge hits with james halls distinctive vocal proclaiming 'it feels so good to be alive!', you're hooked.
'high five hit me' kicks it even harder. dirty funk from hell, kickin' out the beats that rock, indeed!
'streetwalkers anthem' with it's glammy 'watch out, watch out all you lovers' refrain completes possibly one of the strongest three song album openings ever.
'on holy land' brings in a kind of eastern vibe, with trumpets-a-wailing and some great acoustic guitar licks.
'cops and criminals' brings back the funk groove with one of my favourite moments on the album (being the pc geek i am, i'll tell you that it occurs 49 seconds into the song...).
'day in darkness' with it's ultra cool bass riff and great melody is one of the albums 'poppier' songs.
'ended up with you' for me, contains the albums defining moment. the descending chords underneath the 'looking for those good times' vocal drain you emotionally but then 'this is living' comes along and lifts you right back up with it's all out badass rock assault.
'seduction' twists and turns all over the place. a great song with one of my favourite lyrics on the album ('i got my second verse' haha it's such a simple but cool line..).
'crooks' comes off like a sleazy jam from the backstreets of cool, 'this town is full of crooks, polotics and dirty books'.
'you want love' is the most beautiful tune on the album, a haunting ballad which shows just how amazing a singer james hall is.
'revolution in red' takes things out on a high note with it's almost manchester vibe and positive lyrics that tell you to 'walk out and be alive'.
this is right at the top of my album of the year list and alongside their debut 'here comes the trick', up there with my albums of the decade.
BUY! BUY! BUY! everyone deserves to feel the pleasure......
