Domestic debut of the 1997 & second album by the acclaimed Swedish punk act. 15 tracks, including the singles 'Look At You', 'Highlights' & 'Bombed (Out Of My Mind)', plus two hidden bonus tracks, 'Babylon (Downe/ Steele)' and 'Rocker' (featuring Mr. Michael Monroe). All tracks have been digitally remastered. 1999 release.

Il capolavoro assoluto dei Backyard Babies. Cattivi, sporchi, incazzati e carichi di rabbia e attitudine, ecco come erano i ragazzi svedesi ai tempi della pubblicazione di "Total 13". C'è ben poco da dire su questo disco se non che è semplicemente PERFETTO dall'inizio alla fine.
Poche band emergenti sarebbero riuscite a dispensare l'energia dei BYB del 1998.
I brani che costituiscono "Total 13" sono veloci e potenti, non lasciano scampo all'ascoltatore, lo avvolgono durante l'ascolto, gli violentano i timpani e lo trasportano in un viaggio senza ritorno.
Ascoltare questo disco vuol dire divenire fans della band o odiarli senza limite alcuno.
Nessun compromesso dunque, a partire dalla scelta del suono, cupo, grosso, violento, aggressivo oltre ogni limite. I 13 brani che compongono "Total 13" sono un'esperienza unica per chi ama il rock n' roll con influenze punk, sporco e rauco.
Si potrebbe anche creare un parallelo tra i BYB e i Social Distortion, certo, ma per questo episodio discografico sarebbe ancora forzato.
Trascurabilissimo il disco precendete a questo. Trascurabilissima ogni precedente pubblicazione. "Total 13" è il disco definitivo dei BYB.

Thank you for saying that Nicke Borg is a dead ringer for Mike Ness. Yes I agree! Nicke Borg is one of my favourite singers. He takes a song and makes it his own. Strong vocals. This cd is just great. The first one I bought from BYB. I love it. My favourite songs are Get Dead, Ghetto you & U.F.O. Romeo (what an opening line to a song)I just love it! Oh and Look At You, the song that got me into BYB in the first place. If you like great music & wanna be rocked out your clothes here they are Ladies & Gents BACKYARD BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One word describes this album: raucous, and unrelentingly so at that. It's an absolute gem. Imagine equal parts Sex Pistols, Hanoi Rocks, Motorhead, Guns 'n' Roses, and Social Distortion (singer/guitarist Nicke Borg is a dead ringer vocally for Mike Ness) and you're nearly there. But BYB go further still, and they're hands down the best pure punk 'n' roll band on the planet right now.

Every song on here is great, but for me "Subculture Hero" is the pick of the bunch -- killer main riff and a powerchord chorus to die for. These guys have all the looks, hooks, chops, and songwriting suss you could ever ask for. This is an essential album for any rocker's collection. I can't wait to see 'em live.

Before you read my review get off your computer and get this CD anywhere, by any means necessary. Your musical life depends on it! You can thank me later.

Now that you have it in your hot little hands, i'll get down to business. This CD should be a part of any true rocker-metalhead-punk-glam-sleazy-rock-n-roll-music lover's collection in the same way having The Ramones, Guns N Roses, KISS, Hanoi Rocks, AC DC, Misfits, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, and Thin Lizzy are essential in your library. These guys are the BEST band on the planet Earth right now. They embody so many elements of all those bands. BIG Monsterous Guitar Hooks, catchy melodies, and songs that drip sleaze.

This album is absolutley on my Top 20 albums of all time. There isn't one crappy, mediocre, filler song here. Each one is a gem. A classic. Everytime I listen to it a different song becomes my favorite. When i first got hold of it I would tell anyone who would listen to me about the BACKYARD BABIES and this album. I was like a person who just found the Lord, praising his gloriousness. all hail the BACKYARD BABIES!!

This is the kind of album that as you are listening to it you can't wait to hear it again. You will turn this CD on LOUD, grab a guitar, a tennis racket, or even a broom handle, and rock out in your bedroom like a madman.

I can't tell you how much I love this band and this CD. When, not IF you buy this you will not be disapointed. You will become instant fans of this band and seek everything they've ever done. [...]

BACKYARD BABIES FOREVER!!

To say the Backyard Babies third album Total 13 is Excellent would be an understatement, these Sweedish rockers Kick Butt! Nicke's gritty vocals, Dregens heavy guitar licks and well writen lyrics are the evoy of any punk or hard rock band. Their cover of Faster Pussycats "Babylon" makes the original sound more like a Sinatra song. Look for the Backyard Babies to be EXPLODING onto the US charts with their next release.
