4 out of 5 stars You heard me: "Good, Nu-Metal".......2005-10-20

TWELVE TRIBES - The Rebirth of Tragedy
-
Well title just about sums it up.... "Good Nu-Metal" - Twelve Tribes adds some serious Talentand musicianship, Song writing skills and a Refreshing Vibe to a desperately dying scene. The Rebirth of Tragedy is a solid CD from start to finish. At first I felt ashamed to like something so blatantly Nu-Metal... But there is so much talent and so many great songs on this CD it is undeniable. Music is Music. Forget Titles and enjoy anything that pleases the ears.... Twelve Tribes do just that. Can't wait for anew album!
Favorite Songs: Baboon Music, Venus Complex, Chroma, and Luna

3 out of 5 stars "...Smash us like collisions of planets".......2005-10-12

With "Twelve Tribes'" release `The Rebirth Of Tragedy', there was one thing I noticed about the album that is essential to the overall experience, it takes time.

When I first got a chance to see these guys live shortly after I was introduced to the metal/hardcore scene. I had never heard of them at the time, and wanted to discover every band associated within these genres. After what I considered a very solid and well performed performance, I met the band and picked up this CD.

When I first listened to it, almost none of it really clicked with me. I almost thought that the band I just saw live wasn't the same on the CD. I listened to it again, to try and soak up some of it better, but still nothing... and once again another CD gets set aside and rejected in my collection.

Then around a year ago, I saw them live again... and this time knowing what to expect. Once again an incredible live show, "So what is it about the CD that bugs me so much?" I would constantly ask myself, but still the CD went on with no attention.

Now over a year from when I saw them, and much more experience of many more bands... I decided once again to give this CD my full attention while reading the lyrics along with it.

This time I really started to hear what this band was all about. Listening to this CD I noticed one thing that I rarely hear in bands `now-a-days'; every instrument stands out, and the guitars and bass are almost never following each other, they are each doing their own parts, which adds a extreme amount of depth in each song. The guitar riffs written throughout are well processed and brought together. The bass not only brings out the guitar, but it stands out on it's own a lot... which is something I wish I could hear in more bands. The drummer is very talented and keeps the energy flowing throughout the entire album. And most of all comes the unique side of things, Adam Jackson's vocals which are in a sense of a yelling/shouting/rap tone with the occasional screaming, and the `singing' vocals are nothing short of amazing as well; while not a lot is present, where they are included they are never out of place.

The lyrics presented to us by Adam Jackson, are extremely well thought out and complex. While you may sometimes get lost in his thoughts, he sure knows how to give the reader a general sense of what he is trying to say and what his opinions of his life experiences are. I always can really appreciate great lyrics!

One of the biggest letdowns is the artwork and design by Cory Kildof of `Sons Of Nero'. Knowing the great reputation and work by `Sons Of Nero' I had really high expectations for the design, when overall I feel let down and my expectations shattered by the bland brown dusty colors used, and simplistic patterns and designs throughout. And while I really love the lyrics by Jackson, the idea to squash them all together senselessly becomes a burden to read which brings about another let down.

In conclusion, this album features plenty of great songs and great lyrics. In my opinion the best songs are featured more towards the beginning and near the end they become a little more stale, but overall this album is defiantly worth checking out but make sure as you listen, you give it your full attention along with an open mind, and you might find yourself listening to a great musical experience.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Band!.......2005-07-25

I attended the Summer Meltdown in Alaska yesterday with 12 Tribes as one of the performing bands. I was blown away and had to come here to purchase a CD first thing today.

5 out of 5 stars Twelve Tribes are awsome.......2005-07-25

I had never hear of 12 Tribes or had heard their music until yesterday, but they blew me away. I saw them live in Alaska performing with 36 Crazyfists among other bands and they totally kicked ass. I am definetely going to buy their music and will be looking forward to more shows and music from them in the future.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2005-04-06

I got the cd a couple months ago and I still love it.
I also own all Slipknot cds,Hatebreed,KsE,Ect...
I still think this cd compares with all of the above, even the Knot!
I first heard of these guys when I bought HeadBangersBall Vol 2
(I thought Venus Complex was one of the best tracks on the 2nd cd)
So I spent $7.00 And bought it here at Amazon.
All my cds from well known artists cost at least twice this much and half aren't as good!
I love these guys because the lyrics are well thought out,And the extra guitar player adds a lot of originality to their sound. (oh yeah, I also love the Adam J.s voice)
This cd has lots of good songs(Baboon Music,Traslation of the fixes, Venus Complex, Backburner, train Bridge, and Godshaped war are my favs.)
Any way, if youre thinking of getting it, just spend around $10 and DO IT! TT is kind of like Hatebreed with REAL lyrics.

-Did any other TT fans notice the hidden words on the cover? I can't make em out.
