And most Nu Metal bands I absolutaly hate. However, this is one acception that is worthy of my cd case. I reccomend this album for whenever you're looking for quick and effective "cheap thrills"

This CD was pretty damn explosive from the beginning, however many of the songs aren't as diverse as I would have wanted from Mudvayne. Great CD however, definately pick this one up.

If you actually listen to music that has conviction and meaning this is the perfect set. Mudvayne is by far the most inriguing powerful band to ever hit this planet. No band has the stage presents the most awesome, beautiful artistic ability of MUDVAYNE.

I bought this CD without a clue of what they sounded like. Yes I know, bad move on my part. I had heard the hype about these guys at my school, some of my friends said they were good, and that the bassist was amazing. Well I went out, spent 18 bucks, and popped it into the CD player. Now I'll admit this, I did like the first 3 tracks to some degree. Especially Trapped in the wake of a Dream (the bass really stands out there). But after that I became bored really fast, and really annoyed. These guys are not as good as people say they are and are definitely a good example of radio metal. I realize might get slammed for saying that but I'll take the risk. The DVD doesn't help either. What we have is the ridding mountain bikes, playing in the studio (they screw up a lot), 2 of them eating dinner, and 2 useless songs, that basically play and force you to look at one picture of them throughout the whole thing. They belong as bonus tracks to the CD, not on the DVD. Listening to the CD, I can't help but feel bored and feel the need to place something else in the CD player. These guys failed in grabbing my attention and are very overrated. Don't give into the Hype like I did. I plan to sell this thing and at least get half of my money back. Hope this helped.

4 out of 5 stars The Asbestosis of Metal Without the Dying.......2004-01-10

What? Weird title? KISS IT! Asbestosis is a condition that is caused from inhaling the fine dust given off from asbestos, and it is very deadly, and it can kill you. Now, take the inhaling of fine dust part, and apply firmly to Mudvayne. These Illinois-based cruisers first came to me in the form of a L(ethal) D(osage) (haha, a pun!), and now, I think this should've been the theme album for Y2K, but they were just too late.

If it sounds like I am reaming this album, then just turn around now and go look up someone else's album. I will say, this album isn't superior to L.D. 50, but it is equal. Mudvayne takes a page from Tool in evolving their music to a purified form, then shoving it down your throat. That is the only comparison you will get in this review, so deal.

OK, the music, right? "Silenced" is a great kickoff for the album, yes, I can agree on that. However, it does get to the point where you wanna skip that song because the real adventure starts with being "Trapped in the Wake of a Dream". I was quite hyperactive when I was able to get my first taste of this album from their website before it came out, because "Not Falling" and "Key to Nothing" were, excuse my French, F***ING INCREDIBLE!!! It's a good thing these guys are not only original, but continue to be original. This album delivers just as much speed, bass, distortion, and movement as the prior two. There are a few changes in the music, and for the better in many cases. Chad's vocal capabilities are expressed in this album tenfold in comparison to past efforts. Can you possibly get better than listening to those progressions from subtle to ferocious? Only if you listen from beginning to end. The drums are more sporadic and complex. The guitars are beautifully blended with that lovely bass. Everything about this album is well thought out, and you can tell from watching the bonus DVD.

Standout tracks? God, I hate having to pick out certain ones. Well, if you want to sample the songs, then I would look out for "Per(version) of a Truth", "The Patient Mental", "Key to Nothing", and indefinitely, "Skrying". Everything else is fantastic too, but those are the ones that will give you a good look at what this album is about. The two tracks on the DVD, "Goodbye" and "On The Move", are great as well, but you will understand, upon listening to them, how they didn't fit the scheme of the album.

Therefore, take one free hand, open car door, drive, find, buy, plug in immediately, and cure that cold you have, because Mudvayne will warm up every bone in your body with this other masterpiece from their deep, dark, twisted souls.
