Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Roll Down The Windows And Listen.......2005-11-19

Streetnoise by Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll & The Trinity is quirky, disjointed, erratic, sometimes dated, and even odd. But when it's good, wow, is it good. The Brian Auger solo organ tracks are really sharp, (Tropic Of Capricorn, Finally Found You Out, and especially Ellis Island which could go on for half an hour as far as I'm concerned.) At times Driscoll seems to be trying to sing through her voice instead of with it in her homage to Nina Simone. Still, when she's good, as is the case with Take Me To The Water and When I Was A Young Girl, she nails it to the wall. Very interesting treatments of standards like Save The Country, All Blues, and Light My Fire which Driscoll handles beautifully. If you're the type that bids on grab bags at raffles this is for you. Some clunkers, some gems. Looking In The Eye Of The World is Brian Auger doing a very nice Mose Allison impression. Good stuff.
