Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars They deserved so much more.......2007-01-30

With popular music little more than an overproduced, homogenized mess these days, it's even more heartbreaking to realize that a band with such great hooks, harmonies, and songwriting never got its due. The Reivers had it & delivered -- jangly melodies, evocative lyrics, and the ability to tell stories & evoke landscapes of memories with seeming ease. There's a warmth to their music, a homespun flavor that reminds the listener of old times, old friends, lost dreams & treasured moments. Criminally overlooked in their own brief lifetime, they're deserving of rediscovery by anyone interested in quality songwriting by a superb band. This one can be played over & over without ever growing tired or old. While I consider this their single finest album, all four are well worth getting. Most highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars An Absolute Gem by a Band That Should Have Been Huge.......2006-08-01

Every single song on this album is good. Out of the more than 500 CDs I own there are only 4 or 5 I can say that about but this is definitely one of them. Standout cuts are "End of the Day" "Star Telegram" and "Lazy Afternoon." Each one is just as evocative as the best short story you ever read. Mood, color, presence, its all here with shining melodies and a catchy beat. Buy this record. You will not regret it.

4 out of 5 stars The peak of this underrated band.......2005-01-28

The Reivers were an Austin, Texas band that released four LPs from the mid 80's to early 90's. End of the Day is their 3rd and most confident. Their first two albums were drenched in echo, while the production here is meatier. Kim Longacre is one of those "lost" singers that never got her due. The interplay between her and John Croslin is fantastic throughout. They even revamp "Lazy Afternoon" into an invigorating rocker.

I was fortunate to see this band twice and have never experienced so much positive energy coming off a stage. Maybe it was the great harmonies or jangly chords, but everyone left feeling great. Too bad more people weren't able to experience it.

All four of their albums are (somewhat) available and highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Melodic Masterpiece.......2004-06-30

Please just listen. No distractions. Put the headphones on or send the kids to bed early. The harmonies are fantastic. Make my heart melt. I can rember the laziest summer time family gathering in the hot humid haze. How many of you have actually talked into a fan? I did. Where is this band? I can't say enough to wish you would listen to this group.
