5 out of 5 stars A REALLY REALLY GOOD HARDCORE RECORD.......2007-03-19

Intense aggressive emotive hardcore from these Florida christian rockers. Now that may turn alot of people away, so I don't know what to tell you if you can't get over the fact that this band is very religious. I am definitley not christian, trust me, and I find most of the lyrics on The Advent of a Miracle to be beautiful and introspective. There are the occasional annoying lines about christ and so on, but hey, they're christian, dudes. Okay, so now that we're over that.....the music. Let's talk about it. This is my favorite Strongarm release. It has the best production by far. The music would end up inspiring Shai Hulud amongst countless other "metalcore" bands. There's not really that much metal riffing going on here, I'd say the record is more 90's hardcore oriented. The vocals are damn intense and make you want to get up and jump around or do whatever you do. I bet if this band wasn't Christian they may have reached a much larger audience. But get this. Trust me.

5 out of 5 stars One of My Fav Records of All Time!!!!.......2005-07-09

This is a great record, one of the best melodic hardcore records ever and probably the most powerful spirit-filled hardcore release ever. Never has a christian hardcore band combined music and lyrics in a way as this album.

The record is pretty short, only about 30 minutes, but the record flows from one song to the next seemlessly and the flow and mood fits great for all of the tracks and creates an awesome record.

The music on this record sound alot like SHAI HULUD, but rather SHAI HULUD sound like them, since they were around before Shai Hulud started, plus Steve Kleisath, Strongarm's drummer played drums in SHAI HULUD's early days. The music was way ahead of it's time. Off time drum patterns that would make the drum of MASTODON proud, super melodic arpeggiated riffs that every melodic hardcore band these days borrowes from, twangy bass grooves, beautiful breakdowns, clean indie breaks, heavy chuggs, tons of stops and starts, Throat ripping vocal screams with occasional clean spoken parts, amazingly powerful spirit-filled lyrics about God's love, compassion, power, sin of this world, hope, etc...

The recording is pretty good, really good for 90's hardcore, but not great in today's standards. I wish that they would re-release this record remixed and remastered, like they just did with the two older CONVERGE records, hopefully they will someday. The drums hit pretty hard, snare's a bit tinny at times. THe guitars sound nice, but are a bit too thin and have that metalzone sound that can get a little annoying. THe bass is a bit too trebley. The vocals sound great, pretty easy to understand and they flow really well with the music.

Again, the lyrics are amazing. I still look to them for inspiration. My favorite songs are "Council of Perfection", "Advent of a Miracle", "Measure of Consequence" and "Sorrow is a Sage". "all creation stands as a witness all creation stands as a mark of Your will all creation stands on the breath of God", "formed in the palm of God's mighty hand shaped by the work of His will and alive from the breath of His heart man's inspiration is God's touch on the quickened nerves of the spirit enflamed by Your unquenchable fire i stand in the spirit of conquest through You i am created to conquer.

"the filth and athe shame they all wash away for you Christ will clean the slate only love can fill the void when the world has taken its toll hand in hand by your side we'll walk down this path together i'll take you to the place where promises will never break to the advent to the advent to the advent of a miracle"

"all is not beautiful however all has meaning and all can create beauty let me see the meaning in this let me find the beauty in this life is learning what cannot break you can only be a catalyst for growth creation groans for completion truth wakes understanding and the morning comes yielding peace oh how i long for this to be truth"

Get this record! It was recorded by Jeremy Staska, who recorded the all of the SHAI HULUD records before the last one and who did "The Opposite of September" and "Tear from the Red" by Poison the Well. For fans of SHAI HULUD, POISON THE WELL, HOPESFALL, etc...

5 out of 5 stars Not Bad!.......2004-09-12

I bought this album and at first I didnt like it. I started to listen to it more and i found that I began to love their stuff. They eventually broke up and a few went on to start the band Further Seems Forever who are a decent band themselves.

4 out of 5 stars strongarm (RIP).......2004-08-07

Advent of a a miracle, by strongarm was the second, and last album from one of the greatest hardcore bands of all time. This is awesome but I do not think it's as good as their first album, "atonement", but it is an amazing album. These guys through their lyrics let everyone know, that they loved Christ, and worshiped Him through their music. Since I live out in So. Cal. these guys did not come out here that much and I never got to see these guys live. Advent... is a hard, loud, in your face album. After strongarm broke up, most of the members went on to strat the band further seems forever. If you like a band like Strife you will probally like strongarm.
