Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Good Old-Fashioned Punk.......2005-09-09

Awwww, the memories. Growing up as a School-Kid in dismal London back in the 70's '999' were always my favorite punk band. More fun & less serious than some of their contemporaries (i.e.: Clash/Sex Pistols/Stiff Little Fingers) and certainly less precious than the admittedly brilliant 'Jam'. The songs were short, loud with a good healthy sing-along chorus. 'Emergency' was always their best known track but I think their most punkish songs (is that good English) are 'Nasty Nasty' & the speed-riff 'No Pity', I love trying to sing along the lyrics on that one (Not out loud of course). Although I could never quite get away from the fact that Nick Cash sounded a bit too much like Noddy Holder of 'Slade' on some tracks. Just check out 'Homicide' and see what I mean. All their good stuff is here of course and it's the legit original recordings too (unlike the rip-off CD 'Emergency' which I bought by mistake a while back). If you like good old fashioned punk with a pinch of fun and plenty of energy then pick this puppy up. This is the real old-school of the Punk Day's
