Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Lacks Focus, but Still Good.......2006-08-11

3 Stars = Good

Platypus "Ice Cycles," is a different animal than "When Pus Comes to Shove," still a prog effort, but much more subdued , & lacks the fire & focus. That is not to say it is a bad album, but just like Ty's Jelly Jam project, one album is sure fire dynamite & the next just a firecracker. I don't know if this is totally intentional or not (Ty has so much going on), but there is a big difference between these albums. Still you could do much worse than picking up "Ice Cycles" in a over saturated world of average to lousy rock bands & genres.

3 out of 5 stars The 1st was better.......2005-08-04

"When Pus comes to Shove" has some really good symphonic prog stuff. This one just has ordinary rock songs. It is too much like Ty's usual stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Better than first disc.......2004-07-31

I should've gotten this along time ago. Well better late than never. This disc is much better than "Pus Comes To Shove". "Oh God" is a really great track heavier and darker than anything on the first disc. "Cry" is another great song Ty Tabor's vocals are excellent. I'd have to say my favorite tracks has to be tracks have to be "Better Left Unsaid" and "Partial To The Bean". It's an epic yet it's not overblown. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

5 out of 5 stars Platypus 2nd is a winner.......2003-11-14

I give this all the stars I can. I have had this CD in my car for 2 weeks and just refuse to take it out. Ty has assembled a super line up here with past and present Dream Theater keys and bass and awesome drums from Dregg's Rod. Excellent vocals as well.

3 out of 5 stars Strong in spots.......2003-09-18

As others have said, the first half of the CD is very strong. The first four songs are very good. I rarely listen to the rest. I really like "Oh God", "Better Left Unsaid" is the kind of song that I hum to myself later in the day.
