5 out of 5 stars Into the Great Unknown.......2007-05-14

The artist has gone through many changes over his close 35 year career in the industry...this is perhaps the greatest unknown talent ever to strap on a Fender... A voice many only dream of having, and a command of music unmatched by few. The MSB never rocked like this lineup did, although they enjoyed some commercial success several years later. I have been listening to Stagepass for over 25 years now, and although knowing many of the notes and drumbeats, little extra ticks in the show by heart, I still find it as refreshing as ever. I never take a road trip without it, and it continues to bring downer days back up for me all these years later. The only question remaining to be answered is why the band never got to be the superstars they truly are(and who is the woman on the album cover?) You could take a bite out of her and pray for lockjaw! ;o)

I believe I recently purchased about my tenth copy of Stagepass, what with 8-tracks, cassettes, albums over the years all losing their sound(by being played over and over). It will remain in my collection forever. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Michael Stanley Band Stagepass.......2006-03-15

I first encounterd this as an album in the 70's. It was a great album and the band was not one that many had heard of... was great to find a piece of my teenage history available on CD and brings back the great memories of the songs I loved. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great live recording with rich instrumentals and vocals.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best live recordings in Rock history!.......2006-03-10

This, along with "The Allman Brothers Live At the Fillmore East", is one of the best live recordings in Rock history. All of the songs are terrific, especially "Midwest Midnight" and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow". MSB, in all of it's forms, was one of the greatest Rock bands ever and this recording demonstrates how really great they were. If you want real music performed by real musicians on real instruments, buy this CD now!

5 out of 5 stars Should have been a star..........2005-07-11

Michael Stanley could well have been the best rock and roller that very few people outside the midwest ever heard of. But, those who were the biggest names in the 70's sure heard of him. Bruce Springsteen, Joe Walsh,Todd Rundgren, and dozens of others, appeared on Michael's albums and onstage with him. This album, Stagepass, was recorded at the Cleveland Agora Ballroom in October, 1976. Recorded during 4 shows in 3 nights, it represents the essence of true midwestern, blue-collar 70's rock and roll. From the opening strains of Midwest Midnight ( an ode to the terrible way record companies treat artists ), to the jazz-influenced Movin' Right Along, to the solid rocker Let's Get The Show On The Road, this album represents one of the best live albums ever put out. Although a little underproduced by later standards, it was meant to be a true reproduction of a very good band, mistakes and all. It sold well enough to make Michael Stanley a big draw throughout the midwest, and a household name in Cleveland, at the time the "Rock And Roll Capital Of The World". He set attendance records that have yet to be broken, including selling out the Cleveland Coliseum 5 nights in a row-- thats more than 125,000 tickets-- in just a few hours. If you like real classic rock, give this a listen. You won't be disappointed...
