Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Who needs the band........2007-05-12

The real force behind Supertramp. Roger needs no band. A fine under-appreciated album.

3 out of 5 stars North worth the money vs. the original pressing.......2006-08-04

As a body of work, Roger Hodgson's debut album gets five stars. It was easily one of the best albums of the '80s. This particular re-release only gets three stars. While it does sound slightly better (the original pressing had already been remastered for its release on CD), the artwork is of low quality. There is substantial moire on the booklet, and the inlay card also has a lower quality image. The clouds on the booklet are green, and not blue! If you decide to purchase this classic album, save your money and pick up the original A&M Audio Master Plus Series release from 1990. (A&M CD-5004 DIDX-86)

5 out of 5 stars In The Eye Of The Storm.......2006-07-04

Great music from a great musician!!! With the help of one of the biggest record labels Roger Hodgson created another masterpiece. If you are a fan of Supertramps works up to this solo release then you will really enjoy this release from 1984.

5 out of 5 stars Former co-founder of Supertramp strikes with his classic solo debut.......2005-12-10

Former Supertramp guitarist/vocalist/keyboardist Roger Hodgson released his solo debut In the Eye of the Storm in October of 1984.
This album was composed, performed and produced by Roger himself.
He played almost every instrument(guitars, bass guitar, keyboards) and sang every note(lead, backing and harmony vocals) himself save the drums which were played on all but two tracks by by one-time Santana drummer Michael Shrieve.
The first track on In The Eye of the Storm was the classic Had a Dream(Sleeping With the Enemy) is a classic. The song was released as a single(with that middle section deleted) and had a haunting video that is still a classic today and was the reason why many(including myself scooped this album up). The next track In Jeopardy was a typical catchy Hodgson song and was the second single from the album but unfortunately fell on deaf ears. The beautiful ballad Lovers in the Wind is next and it always sends shivers down the spine everytime I hear it. Hooked on a Problem ends the first half on a joking note and featured Scott Page on saxophones replacing John Helliwell's parts.
The uplifting Give Me Love Give Me Life kicks off the album's second half and is a great song as is the nearly 7 minute follow-up I'm Not Afraid. The album's closing track however is the other classic on the album aside Had a Dream which is the epic Only Because of You which is 8 minutes and 40 seconds of pure magic with great vocals and a stunning Hodgson guitar solo in the middle.
When released, In the Eye of the Storm did modestly well when released and to date remains the only Roger Hodgson album still available here in the US but is highly recommended!
