This soundtrack to a television show on the Cartoon Network is the latest in a series of attempts to "break" this contagiously fun pop duo on American shores. In their native Japan, Puffi Amiyumi (who were brought together by a manager and record label in 1995) play stadiums, start fashion trends without trying, host a variety show, and have their own action figures. They've had a surprisingly long career, but have never made much of a pop culture mark in the US aside from the insanely catchy theme song to the cartoon <I>Teen Titans</I> (which appears here as a bonus track). This greatest-hits collection travels from beach blanket retro-pop numbers to head-banging anthems. Many of these songs are sung in Japanese, but they speak that universal language perfected in 1965 by John, Paul, George and Ringo: very clever, super melodic, three minute pop songs that stick in your head all week long. <I>--Mike McGonigal</I>

I love it! Parent or Gardian your middle school kid would love this album.
this is a great fun album with graet uplifting songs for Jr. highers
So if you have a middle school/Jr. highschool student he or she would love this album!

Best choice for a Puffy CD.......2006-11-11

If you're looking to buy one Puffy AmiYumi CD this would be my choice. It's a good mix of solid new material and many of their earlier hits.

Andy Sturmer brings his song writings talents for the dueling theme songs from the Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi show and Teen Titans. Anyone with access to the Cartoon Network will instantly recognize them. Sturmer then covers the spectrum from fast past rock to more sweet ballads about friendship in songs like "Friends Forever," "Planet Tokyo," "Forever" and "Love So Pure." Also included is a rocking remake of his Jellyfish tune "Joining a Fan Club."

Puffy digs into their bag of Japanese pixie dust to bring to US audiences the songs that made them so successful in Japan. Yumi breaks out some exuberant beach music in "Vacation." The brass playing talents of the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra join Puffy for the rocking swing classic Boogie Woogie No. 5. Puffy's very first single, the ELO inspired "True Asia" and several other hits round out the rest of the CD's impressive 14 tracks.

If you want to buy a single Puffy CD to see what has drawn so many people from around the world to this group you can't go wrong with Hi Hi.

Very fun, pop music.......2006-01-31

Most of the time I find myself listening to metal and indie rock, Unearth and Nada Surf to name a few, but occasionaly I like to break the habit and find music that is opposite from my musical tastes. You know that feeling you get when you're happy with what you've found/bought/etc? That's what you get if you listen to this cd. And what better place to venture off into these feelings than Puffy AmiYumi?

I've known about Puffy AmiYumi for about a year or so but never really heard any of their material, besides the teen titans theme song. It's such a shame too, because this is so good to my ears. The album is a bunch of pop rock filled with synthesizers, some rough guitar riffs and pianos, slow love song stuff, and even a little ska. If you watch the puffy amiyumi cartoon show you will hear some of these tracks on it.

Musically, this album is put together very well, thanks to a bunch of genius producers. Alot of the songs are very melodic and catchy and will most likely be stuck in your head for the next couple of days. In fact the song 'forever' is playing in my ipod right now. Approximately half of the album is in English and the other half in Japanese. You may think you'd have a hard time liking music in a different language, but for me it wasn't hard at all. Music being the universal language is evident with this album.

I don't really have any complaints about this album. If you are a die-hard fan of music written in your language, created, and performed by the key artists themselves, (like myself) you would probably stay away from this, but not me because I don't really care as long as it is good to my ears. The music and the cartoon have sucked me in and I will most likely be stuck for a long time.

I cant belive that people are writing like,Puffy AmiYumi is bad! I love their music and show Hi Hi puffy Ami Yumi.My sister and I are pretending to be Ami and Yumi and singing "We make music and play that good...." and we could go threw this whole cd without the lyrics. Also,the songs are easy to remember.Just try to remember this without staring at your computer:"Shes joinin a fan-club".Oh,and try to get the music video for the asewome song"Joining a fanclub" When you get the lyrics for the first time,stuff is easy to remember.PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE STOP SENDING THESE MESSAGES FOR 940 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great CD.......2005-11-07

All the songs are great, very poppy. But, hands down, December is the BEST song on the track (strangely, it reminds me of a Beattles song). I definetly recommead this CD; it will cheer you up whenever you are down.
