Customer Reviews:
Early Pepper at its best.......2007-04-10
This is the first pepper cd I really ever heard and in my opinion it is arguably one of their best. Sure they sound similar to sublime but have a hawaiian style that is all their own. I personally like every song on the cd and its definitly one you can just let play without skipping around to different tracks. Some key songs though are back home, use me, ashes, and your 45. I don't understand this need for "meangingful" lyrics that this cd supposedly lacks. If i learned anything from seeing Pepper in concert and behind the scenes is that they make music for fun and try not to take it so seriously. If your looking for a good cd whether your at a party or just chillin at home its perfect.
Not Pepper's Best..........2006-02-20
Believe me, I really want to like Pepper. I am from the Big Island and I want to support local bands. I love Sublime-style reggae. All reggae, actually. But despite this I still found In With The Old to be disappointing. On the plus side, the vocals are strong and some of the songs are catchy. Unfortunately this is overshadowed by juvenille (and often meaningless) lyrics, too many muscially bland 2-chord chorus' (as heard in songs such as Are You Down) and lastly, some of the country influenced songs on this album will make you reach for the "track forward" button on your CD player. I can see this album being played at high school parties. I have already graduated in terms of school as well as musical taste so it is not for me. I continue to have high hopes for Pepper's next release but this album just didn't do it for me.
To all the doubters:.......2005-11-11
To all those who doubt the talent and originality of pepper, see them in concert, they arent a sublime wannabe, when i hear pepper i dont think of sublime at all i think of pepper, i dont see many similarities except what some might call reggae/alte mix, either way Kona Town set the standard, and In with the Old does a fine job of changin up the pace and bringin us somethin new and stellar.
