Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Whole Thing Is Pretty Damn Kickin'.......2007-01-01

I have very eclectic musical tastes, but my love for this album comes from the same place that likes to rock out on The Pixies, The Sex Pistols and Sugar. This is sharp-edged, intelligent, agressive rock 'n' roll, more than a little angry, twisted and downright evil.

Clocking in with a tight eleven tracks in 36 minutes, this CD is a killer from beginning to end. There ain't too many albums I can say that about. The supremely hooky vampire narrative "Possum Kingdom" deserves its status as hit alternative single, but tracks like the scorchingly heavy "Velvet" and the slow-building bone crusher "I Burn" are just as good.

5 out of 5 stars The good old days are still here........2006-12-29

I clearly remember when I first heard the Toadies. A walkman radio. Laying on my bed. 5th grade. The song, Tyler. Yes folks, I think we all have fond memories like that of the Toadies. Since then, I've loved this album. If you dont know this band, you are not to be blamed. Unfortunately, they aren't a staple around the country. But they stay alive because of people like you and me.

5 out of 5 stars simply classic.......2006-09-20

timeless, amazing record! its hard for me to say if its better the Hell Below Stars Above. Buy both because there are few records as perfect as these two. R.I.P. Toadies.

5 out of 5 stars in da motha effin hizzy with da toadies.......2006-08-02

Yo, bling bling, grunge phenatiks. I'm no-go on understanding fo-sho what makes this album gung-ho.

I have a hunch, however. It's gotta be the kick drum, which there is an abundance of. Kick drum and snare. Or how about the catchy, staccato riffs. And, come on, Possum Kingdom has to be one of the best radio singles ever - it's not overplayed, and no one knows who the heck sings it.

The Toadies, like many 90's bands, have a non-existent presence in an industry with much more talented musicians, like Bo Bice. What a pity, there is null a single negative tune on this nutritious montage of not-nu-metal grunge-noir.

These guys and Local H are going to take over Cobain's mansion In Utero when they pass away.

NEway, reprezentz homios. Check dis shizzle out.

4 out of 5 stars timeless?.......2006-06-28

i bought this album when it came out - i was 14. it was everything i wanted from a rocked-out grunge angst whatever thing. everything i needed was there. years later, i can still listen to it and rock out and scowl a bit, but it seems like it's missing something. i didn't grow out of my moody, self-serving nonsense completely, but added other personality traits to it. so now i feel like there's a track or two missing on this album. it's great for anyone embracing the kind of anger and general dissatisfaction that this album embodies. since there's probably always going to be people feeling that way, rubberneck is probably a timeless ablum. but once you start to direct your daily irritation somewhere other than the girl/boy who jilted you, it begins to lack something.
