I liked it better in Swedish.......2005-07-06
I've heard a number of the tracks on this album after stumbling across Promoe in a Gatas Parlament video a while back.
I've decided that I'd rather hear him rap in Swedish or Norwegian or whatever the language was that he used in Antiamerikanskdans
-- I don't speak either of those, but it sounded *awesome*. In English it's all pretty trite -- not-particularly-inspiring rhymes in a similar vein to Rage Against The Machine, but rendered as straight hiphop. "Conscious" or political it may be, but these tracks lack the teeth and wit of groups like The Coup.
His delivery and cadence in English just aren't particularly dynamic. Catch this cat in his native language instead.
LoopTroop Changed My Life - Revolutionary Indeed!.......2005-04-19
I've been a turntablist, mixtape DJ, and Hip-Hop fan for about ten years now, and after hearing LoopTroop for the first time just time a few months ago, I can say that they are undoubtedly my favorite artists. This album is incredible, but I haven't been dissapointed by ANY of their music...seriously! Americans are missing out, if they had ever even had a chance to hear them, they'd be #1...no question. Their music is passionate, intelligent, & pure...nothing like where Hip-Hop (by & large) has ended up. Their music could do the world some good.
Smart, refreshing and challenging.......2002-07-15
Sometimes hip-hop discussions are struck dead with the following argument:
"Yeah, such-and-such has a cool message, but they're beats and rhymes are wak. What good is a message if you can't sell it to people with ability?"
Hear-hear, and you can now show that head who has it all figured out this downright refreshing CD. It's beats are consistent, cool and lyrics pretty much guarantee you won't see any of the songs in rotation on MTV. It's pretty much a smart, well-performed manifesto against music industry and genre practices, and man, does it make you want to nod your head. It's message is clear, but not preachy, and it doesn't scrounge on the beats. The beats have a definite underground air, giving you Dan the Automater-worthy drops without any of the resident weirdness. Straight-up hip-hop about straight up hip-hop.
It's great stuff, and if you want to be the cool kid on your hip-hop block, get this one. No one else, did, unfortunately.
Must have hip hop.......2002-05-08
This is an awesome album. Every song is excelent. If you like hip hop / rap, you need this cd, trust me you won't be dissapointed. Also, pick up his new cd "Long Distance Runner", that lp is also very good.
revolutionary!.......2002-02-14
I first found out about da Loop Troop a while ago, I listen to wide span of hip hop from Task Force to styles of beyond to Anticon to Dead Prez and iv never found anything as ill and inspiring as Promoe and Loop Troop. Promoe's rhymes have a lot of meaning and are inspriging specially if you write graf, have a problem with scoitety, the government!,are socially dysfunctional and like generally being against the system, media and pop culture =). hopefully you will find yourself actually listening to the lyrics unlike some people who only like hip hop purly becuase of the flows and beats altho promoe is a true poet and his wordplay is sic and embee is amazing. If you relate and like something with depth get it! Dont get it cos he has a similar sound to eminem!...
