4 out of 5 stars Good Richie Rich album.......2004-12-03

Richie rich returns after 4 and a half years to bring another album for his fans. Packed with some great beats and some not so good ones (album was handled by 9 different producers) he delivers what he has been known for over the past decade, smooth raps over funky beats. Features about 6 songs that have guests. Has 4 or 5 songs I skip and one classic it is a good album to have for his fans.

4 out of 5 stars TIGHT WORK.......2002-03-11

Rich really delivered on this album. The beats are very tight and Rich really makes you feel him on them. The only flaw on this were his guests on "the truth.." and "the game dont stop", but b-legit and yukmouth sounded good on the songs that they guested in...This album along with B-Legit's Hempin' were both two excellent slept-on albums.

4 out of 5 stars After waiting for long Double R doesn't dissapoint.......2001-08-03

"The Game" was delayed all the time. The release dates changed every few months. Finally Richie Rich is back. And the new album is very good, much much better than most albums that come out today. Richie Rich left Def Jam and released this album on an independent label, yet most of the material was recorded while he was on Def Jam. And the whole album is at a very high quality. Almost all the tracks are bangin' - great production and Richie Rich's rapping and lyrics are great as usual. He's a real OG and he spits nothing but game on the album. Only few tracks aren't that good, but most of the album is on a high level. The only thing that bothers me is the guest featured - other than B-Legit on the first song, the other guests featured are pretty dissapointing. The album isn't as perfect as the classic Seasoned Veteran yet it's West Coast rap at it's best with that special Bay Area flava from the Oakland pimp. Get this album and support Bay Area independent labels!

4 out of 5 stars A smooth, funky hip-hop ride.......2001-02-23

The man with the raspy voice has done it again. On "The Game," Richie Rich delivers more of what we've all been waiting for since 1996: His smooth, pimpalistic style.
The album kicks off with the bangin Strait Mall featuring B-Legit. Definitely sets the tone nicely for the rest of the album. Tracks like If, The Truth, Game Dont Stop, Bring The O, Whose House, How Many Licks (featuring Yuckmouth) and The Game all bring that funky West Coast feel that's unmatched by any other current artist. And he can still take you back old-school style, as heard on tracks like Playboy and Birds. There's not a single track on the album that can be classified as fast-forward material.
But the album's highlight has to be the last track, Time In My Life, on which RR strays away from the sex & street tales that dominate the majority of the album. He describes growing up as a kid in vivid detail over a masterful beat. Absolutely stunning track, and the album is worth picking up for it alone.
Overall, this is a very solid album, just as good and maybe slightly better than his 1996 release "Seasoned Veteran." If you're a fan at all of West Coast rap, and you've never heard Richie Rich, you NEED to pick both of these albums up. You dont know what you're missing.
