Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The 1980's Malcolm X Bandwagon finds a worthy passenger.......2004-10-19

Movement Ex belongs to a large group of late 80's "political" rap/hip-hoppers who share several ideologies: hate of America, the Devil is a white guy, uplift Black America through the racist rhetoric of Louis Farrakhan. Other riders of this bandwagon were Paris, Lakim Shabazz, 2 Black 2 Strong, 2 Kings In A Cipher, Poor Righteous Teachers, and Brand Nubian. How does Movement Ex fit in with this group? To be honest, pretty favorably.

Brand Nubian was far and away the most gifted of this cadre, both lyrically and musically. PRT's debut was as strong as anyone else's in the late 80's. Movement Ex may not sit as high as Brand Nubian or PRT, but they are right up there. Great beats and good delivery made this one of MOJO Magazine's greatest "lost" LP's.

Yes, you hear songs like United Snakes of America, and NO, the writers dont really understand that the reason they can hate America and say so loudly is because they are American. Funny how it was mostly white middle-class kids buying this stuff!! Who got the last laugh there?

Anyways, this is one of the best that the genre has to offer.
