3 out of 5 stars So what the Bomb!.......2006-07-03

I'm really loving these disc! Like the two abaove writer there could have been some of thesee tracks left off of these albums! I some what undertand why they name this collection Hip Hop History but where are the other songs we need to hear at. You didn't get the clearance to use the sonsg and just pit B.S. Tracks on it??? I bought this at Virgin Record store for 9.99! Way worth my money! Don't play 30 to 50 Bucks for this! I just know all I'm going to do is put all the classic tracks on my Ipod and jam out! If you can buy this cd for 15 Bucks and under it's worth! It's 3 disc which is hot!

4 out of 5 stars The *Incomplete* History of Hip-Hop.......2005-09-17

This History of Hip-Hop set is good, but it's not good enough. How are you going to have a collection of 50 "slammin' trax" and not have: Arrested Development, Black Sheep, Digable Planets, Public Enemy, Whodini, and L. L. Cool. J? You definetly can NOT have a good hip-hip collection without anything from Public Enemy and L. L. Cool J. There are 3 CDs in the set and some of the wack tracks on it should've been replaced with something by the hip-hop artists I mentioned above. Overall, The History of Hip-Hop is good, but I'd advise you to walk and get it.

5 out of 5 stars HIP HOP!.......2005-03-02

This is some of the best 50 tracks on 3 discs in hip hop, I only be hatin' on a few tracks which I'll get to later.

The first disc has a lot of classic hip hop songs there is about 17 tracks on this disc and the whole disc is dope except for Ludacris 'Gossip Folks' and I ain't too keen on Tone Loc 'Wild Thing' other than that this Is a great disc and the best songs are NWA 'Express Yourself' BDP 'My Philosophy' Snoop Dogg 'Who Am I? (What's my Name) Ice-T 'You Played Yourslef' Pete Rock and CL Smooth 'TROY' Grandmaster Flash 'White Lines' and of course the song that started hip hop 'Rapper's Delight' by The Sugarhill Gang. 4.5/5

the second disc is old skool all 1991 and before. This is probably my favorite disc and there is no letdown songs. It features many dope tracks like Afrika Bambaataa 'Planet Rock' Grandmaster Flash 'The Message' De La Soul 'The Magic Number' Big Daddy Kane 'Warm it up kane' Digital Underground 'Humpty Dance' Del the Funkee 'Mistadobalina' Stetsasonic 'all that jazz' Brand Nubian 'All for One' Eric B and Rakim 'I know u got soul' Das EFX 'they want efx' Also there is some instrumental tracks Mantonix 'King of the beats' which is tight, Davy DMX 'one for the treble' and the 45 king '900 number' 5/5

The third disc is the worst but it aint bad, there is about 2 letdown tracks from Nelly (wtf is he on here fo) missy. The best tracks are ATCQ 'Can I kick it' i prefer this version to the album one. J5 'Concrete Schoolyard' Busta Rhymes 'Woo hah got u all in check' cypress hill 'insanein the brain' and coolio 'gangsta's paradise'. 4/5
