Face Does it Again!.......2006-01-29
In my opinion this is one of Scarfaces best records by far! This is prolly my 3rd or 4th fav from him. The beats are hella clean and the lyrics are hard as usual. "Balls and my Word" has more guest rappers than the average Face record, but it definitely isn't a bad thing here. Z-Ro put down a hook on a couple of the tracks, Bun-B adds a tight verse to the 50 Cent Dissin' track "B**ch N*gga", and Devin "The Dude" puts down the Chorus and a verse on "Only Your Mother". My Personal Favorite tracks would have to be "Stuck At A Standstill", "Make Your Peace", "Spend The Night", "Recognize", and "On My Grind". So if you're a fan...i'de def. recommend you pick up this record.
4.5 star 8th SOLO album from one of rap's greats.......2005-02-05
Scarface is back on Rap-A-Lot and returns with a "new" CD only 8 months after his Def Jam release, "The Fix" (and I like this one slightly better). Although these were previously recorded songs they're still good. Production is by mostly Rap-A-Lot producers, Mike Dean (4 songs), T-Mix & NO Joe (2 songs each), and Mr. Lee, 7, Sam Sneed, and Ensayne each do a song, and overall the production is very good on most of the album. As with most of his albums, guests are few (rappers are on 3 of the 11 songs, and 2 songs have women doing the hooks). Overall it is probably my 4th favorite CD from Face, but is better than most CD's rappers put out. The only thing I don't like, as with moost of his albums, there is not a lot of songs on it (only 11 and 3 skits). It has 2 classics, 2 near classics, 4 good songs, 1 average song, and 2 that I skip. A must have album from the King of the South.

"Balls And My Word" is not the highlight of Face's career.......2003-10-09
In 2002, Scarface dropped the Southern rap gem, "The Fix", his first album on Def Jam. Following the success of said album, Rap-A-Lot head honcho, J Prince is pulling a Suge Knight and releasing some of his old vault material as a new album. Just like "Dead Man Walking", Death Row's mediocre Snoop Dogg album, "Balls And My Word" is an uneven mix of dated material that sounds like nothing that Face would release on his own.
The first single, "B-tch N-ggaz" is actually a remix of the controversial "Snitch Niggaz" that was changed when Face himself wanted no part of what was an elaborate publicity stunt involving Z-Ro dissing 50 Cent. All commentary about 50 has been removed from the album version and the only remaining shots at 50 are done subliminaly as Mike Dean's beat sounds strangely familar to that of "In Da Club". A more appropriate choice for the single might have been "Only Your Mother" which features an absolutely dope chorus and guest verse from the phenominal Devin The Dude.
The remainder of the album is pretty mediocre aside from "On My Grind" and "Spend The Night" which are in themselves not the best reason to go out and buy this album. You get fourteen tracks and the opening and closing two don't even feature Scarface on them. The production is nothing spectacular though T-Mix's "Only Your Mother" is certainly a standout track that is worth checking out.
Not feelin this..........2003-07-11
This album isn't a TRUE album from da King of Southern rap. These are cutting floor throwaways and the quality of the music and the lyrics show that. There is not a single `must hear' song on the album and it is quite possibly the worst album I have purchased this year. After sporting one of the best album covers I expected this to be an underground classic....not so. The beats are terrible...terrible ...terrible. I don't know who put them together but whoever it was they need to retire. The only songs that are listenable are the ones done by Mike Dean. Scarface would have never rhymed over those other corny sounding generic beats. Speaking of rhymes...these are Scarface's worst...showing why they were never intended for release. It's just gangsta talk but not the introspective realness from Scarface, just a lot of posing. The whole album is just BLAZE'. Weak, old, and uninspired beats, banal & boring rhymes, tired guest appearances that were just thrown on here. This was an obvious attempt to make money off of Scarface's name and it succeeded brilliantly. Don't invest in this. If you want some real Scarface get ANY of his other albums.
