5 out of 5 stars Russ been rappin.......2007-02-08

This album is great almost the whole way thru, and that is rare. Russ rocks for real and this album reminds me of some of the times i'd hear him on WNUR Time Travel in Chicago. I remember hearing him do alot of these songs when he was still working on them, and the only dissapointments I can think of have to do with the way he changed songs from their air mixes to different studio versions. A big example is the song Climb, which in my opinion is great in its raw live airplays before the album was released. I remember another song he made that was drastically different in studio was Ecosystem (with the raw version being alot better). It would be awesome if Russ would release an EP with some of his rare and unheard mixes from the mid to late nineties. I remember a song in particular that had a hawaiian sounding loop (its unreleased). But nevertheless, this is some of the best underground rap as of late and its a shame his new stuff doesnt sound the same. Its just not the same Russ. But then again, Russ been rappin since before michael jackson was the complexion of a napkin.

5 out of 5 stars Great Release.......2005-01-18

Like many other great hip hop duo's before them Mudkids have crafted some incredible hip hop. However they have received very little commercial success. Which I must say is the biggest shock after listening to this album for 3 years. Each and every song on this album is very radio friendly and would probably develop a large fan base if givin the chance. It is not an Underground record by definition the beats are real Fresh and very Radio Friendly with great Baselines and Kickin Snares. Within this Cd is some of the best verses you will ever here tracks like "Return" "More" and "32\Until" will keep you coming back to this album over and over. It really confuses me that they are not huge as whenever someone refers to "Real Hip-Hop" I think this is just what they mean. To the few people who may actually read this review do not think twice about buying this album it is one of the best releases of 2000-2005. A Gem in a Hip Hop game full of gravel!

5 out of 5 stars This album is sick.......2004-07-15

This album is really impressive. Choc is an amazing MC with some of the most creative lyrics I've heard. "32/Until" might be the coolest, funniest, best song ever. The first time I listened to it I had to play it like 5 times over there were so many sweet rhymes in it. They don't seem to follow typical "styles" of hip hop either...no 16 bars/chorus/16 bars, etc. they just do whatever the hell they want. Awesome CD 5 stars all the way. 32/until is worth the purchase alone, I challenge you to find a more concisely written song.

5 out of 5 stars It's cuz they that DEEP, don't SLEEP..........2002-04-09

These kids are ridiculous!!! Mudkids that is. Just when I thought I was gonna throw up when the next time I heard a rapper allude to bussin' a nut in Tweet's- Oopps I mean some girl face. Totally on whim, I come across a Indianapolis Rap group holdin' it down. The cats were openin' for the ROOTS and I ALMOST wanted the roots to wait up so the 'kids could put it down for one more song. YO!! I'm talkin' tru rap duo like back in the day like Pete Rock and CL Smooth but better. Choc Soreel's lyricism is unique and unparallel; the type of rhymin' that'll have you wearin' out your rewind. And the beats are straight; they knock and allow Choc Soreel to do his thing. Now you probably haven't heard of them b4 now unless you were from Naptown but these guys should be national. If I could only get them on the radio out here in DC...

5 out of 5 stars Great Hip Hop CD.......2002-04-04

I almost gave it 4 stars because the whole cd isn't great, but then again how can one compare anything to Q-tips Amplified. I mean let's be serious, that's the only CD that can be played in the hip hop world from start to finish. So I give Mudkids a 5 star rating because 85% of the CD is great new Hip Hop. That and the fact that I'm from Indy.
