GREAT, GREAT,.......2005-09-28

This is talent. Every cut is great, I got this used about 3 years back, and then my sis (Lady E, thanks I love you!) mailed me the other CD of hers. I love her music, sangin, and lyrics. I just wish she would have gotten more love, but perhaps she is happy writing songs, and collecting big checks. Anyway she is GREAT, the CD is wonderful. It's R&B, jazz, blues...all mixed up! What a great CD this is. Can not wait for another CD from Mack Diva!

I've found a part of myself that I'd left behind..........2005-01-22

When I ended a long term relationship a few years ago, I lost access to hearing and vibing to this CD. As I was looking through my musical collection, I found my "Rise" CD single. That reminded me how much I missed The Mack Diva. So, I set out to find her...and alas, with success I found a copy of this out of print treasure. It is just as meaningful and viable today as it was back in 1996. So don't sleep...get a copy if you can!

Sandra St Victor stands for quality. Her voice and her songs are very expressive. She used to be the singer of the Family Stand and wrote songs for Paula Abdul, Prince and others. Sandra is also still performing. The known singles here are "Chocolate" and "Mack Diva". If you don't know Sandra, try her out now :)

She sung & wrote for Chaka Khan. She basically wrote all Paula Abdul hit records. She was the voice of the Family Stand. Of course, what you can expect is only the best. Check out her brandnew album "Gemini: Both sides". Her voice was missed for a long time, and now Sandra returns with an album she did by herself. You will also find interesting guests like The Roots and The Family Stand. A great soul album that also is jazzy and funky, and comes to you in many ways. If you have a Prince record, have a look for Sandra St. Victor (e.g. "Emancipation"). You already know Sandra, although you might not be aware of it :) (...)

You have to wonder about a music industry that would let a CD like this fall through the cracks. It's full of self-love and awareness, playfullness and sexual bravado - not to mention The Voice! Well, in a world of Britney and Backstreet clones (i.e. blackface without the blackface), who cares if you were fierce enough to back up legends like Chaka Khan and Roy Ayers? Who cares if you once fronted The Family Stand (who, along with Living Color, reclaimed rock music)? Who cares about a seemingly limitless vocal range or a variety of vocal textures?

The CD has been out-of-print for a couple of years now, so I'm surprised that Amazon.com still sells it. Buy it IMMEDIATELY!
