IM LOVING IT.......2004-02-26
A Very Good Album.......2003-06-04
These four brothers have talent. Where the lyrics falter, the vocals surely make up for it. Even though sometimes the lyrics are cheesy, the group makes up for it with rich, solid harmonies that you usually don't find nowadays. Even though this album is, currently, five years old, it's still a good listen.
The song "When" is enough to make this album enjoyable. In my opinion, this rates up there as one of the best love songs of the 90s. Everyone can relate to this song! It tells the tale of a man in love with a girl, but she has a man...he's waiting for her to frop the other man and keep him...classic love soap opera. Another good song is "Why Did You". This song has some beautiful harmonies and nice lead vocals, and is accompanied by a beautiful segue with some a very nice orchestral arrangement. Very remarkable for a record label under Frank Thomas, heavy hitter for the White Sox.
Some other standout songs include "Give You the World", the "Turn You Out" segue, and the "Making Love" interlude (which should have been a song. All have very good harmonies and nice lyrics.
Some of the songs just didn't sit well with me. I think that "Page Me" is one of the most irritating songs!! And "Do U Wanna" really left a bitter taste in my mouth. A lot of the songs have the singing-rapping mix, and sometimes it just doesn't work. After the first few times when it's done badly, it really gets irritating before some of the better ones ("Fall Backs of A Playa").
All in all, this CD is a good one, if you can get past the rapping-singing things. A pretty good album out from a minor label from Chicago. It's definitely worth a few listens, especially for the interludes and "When".
