Customer Reviews:
5 = The Funkiest. My name is the One, some people call me the Funk!.......2006-12-15
This CD is the BOMB. P-Funk, uncut Funk, the Bomb. Bootsy put it down on this one. Bootsy's bass playing is tight on this one and as true funkateers know .. there's gonna be a party 4 days, playing when the player plays. My favorite is "Penetration..In Funk We Trust". That cut is FONKY, classic Bootsy bass playing. "Fragile" is a nice jam with that trademark behind the beat bass groove. I've worn this CD out. I like this one better than "Play with Bootsy" cause Bootsy actually plays some serious bass on this one. A defininte must have for your Funk collection or if you're a bass fan.

Not as fun exciting as I expected from his playing on Parliament albums. Not bad, it just doesn't really grab me.
By Far The Best Album of 1998.......2001-12-19
I didn't come across this work of Bootsy's until 2001, when I heard some of the tracks on a video game. I searched and found what seemed to be the last copy in town. I am glad I did. This is one of the most enjoyable albums in my collection. Bootsy's bass is the backbone of the work, but not the focus. It is unlike his typical gaudy but glorious self serving freaky funkathons. Bootsy's bass and melodies combine with the rythmic rappings of various hip hop artists. These different artists throughout the album help keep perspectives fresh on each track. There are also incredible vocal performances woven into the mix. The gospel interlude three minutes and thirty seconds into "Wind Me Up" is worth the price alone. The album is crystal clear and skin tight. It is perfect for parties, and know this... it will make you dance. In summary I highly recommend this album. Whether you are down with Bootsy already or new to his legendary scene, if you enjoy funk and hip hop, you will love this album too.
been a graduate.......2001-10-31
bootsy came back bumping away, something for the old, and new fans alike, boot goes into experimenting more with rap, house, techno, and other neat tricks the cut good n nasty will take you back when bootsy made i'd rather be with you, and vanish in our sleep, as mudbone does some classic hooks, rodney o, spits verses on the cut funk ain't broke-this is old funk with a new twist while bootsy samples his classic stretchin out riff, mc lyte stops by on i'm leavin you sounds so r&b, as does fragile with guest d meka, destined for classics except that this is too hardcore for so called black radio, fresh outta p- university should have had more rappers paying tribute to bootsy, funky none the less. ever lost your lover has a kind of roy ayers vibe but fans will love this, party lick a bies samples a commodores song i forgot, but it is still funky, like i said this was bootsy at his best in years.
Pretty good effort!.......2000-08-19
This is some New School Funk, y'all! Bootsy is the funkiest bassplayer there is (even Marcus Miller admitted that!), not the best, but the FUNKIEST! His space bass could be a little more up front on this album and some of the tracks are a little too slick, but it's still a damn good record. You won't be disapointed buying this extremely danceable disc, bubba! He's still stretchin' out (with or without his Rubber Band!)
