Customer Reviews:
A Great Compilation of Funk, Jazz and Soul.......2001-05-30
All the big guns and mainstream classic artists of the 70's are right here on this jazzed up and funked down double CD that fills your stereo with life!
James Brown is here, as is Isaac Hayes' "Theme from Shaft". Curtis Mayfield chips in with the excellent "Pusherman" and "Superfly". Other artists include Bootsy Collins and Sly Stone.
A lot of these songs may sound familiar, including Burt Bacharachs "Look of Love" and Gil Scott-Herons "Home is Where the Hatred is", neither of which is sung by the original artist. As well as other familiar tunes like "If You Want me to Stay" and "I'd Rather Be With You". You will also notice that parts of certain songs have been sampled by modern day artists such as Massive Attack (the bass line in "Safe From Harm").
All in all this album offers you an excellent dose of funk, soul and jazz with over 20 tracks on 2 cd's. Its packed full of energy and passionate rhythm. Its easy to like and hard to stop playing over and over again. If you're into 70's funk and like its vibey groove, then I recomend this album for you.
So turn on, tune in and funk out...
