Customer Reviews:
Superwoman's album, a bit short of superalbum.......2007-03-12
Karyn White, one of the most attractive singers of her era, released this album after being a virtually an unknown artist for several years. "Superwoman" became an instant hit after its release, and became an anthem for many women out there that agreed with Karyn's sentiments... that women are more than just someone that serve as caddies to their husbands. Her up-tempo hit, "The Way You Love Me" was another chart-topper that made it to mainstream audiences, after initially being considered mainly for the African-American community. This album also includes another popular hit, "Secret Rendezvous", where Babyface even lends a bit of a background vocal to spice up the track. Aside from those three hits, "One Wish" and "Love Saw It" are nice jams to listen to as well, if you're into a bit of '80's R&B. This album doesn't quite have the firepower that some of the other more popular artists released during this era, but it does lend to the talent that Karyn White is. Karyn White, a former Beauty-Queen, is definitely more than just a pretty face, and it is clearly displayed in this album.
Funky 90's R&B.......2006-11-04
Well, All I can say is I LOOOOOOOOVE this album! This is the album I always play when I am feeling high on love!If you don't have this album, stop whatever you are doing and buy this! The album goes through all phasesof love and realtionships.
I love the way you love is my favorite. I always reminisce of doin' the cabbage patch and the snake and all those dances from the 90's.
Just a great album start to finish!
Still one of my favorite albums.......2006-09-20
I was a great fan of "LaFace" productions, in the late '80...and Karyn was one of my favorite performers, in that period. So, i wasn't amazed when her collaboration with L.A. and Babyface has produced one of the best contemporary R&B albums that i can remember. Actually, the best of her (unfortunately, too short) discography.
The chemistry between her voice and L.A. and Babyface's arrangements was perfect. In the following albums, produced almost exclusively by Jam & Lewis, she sounded like a more "aggressive" version of Janet Jackson, and this wasn't exactly what a so talented singer deserved...because she had enough personality to have her own artistical identity.
If you want to start a good collection of modern R&B music, you can't miss this one!
This was when they knew how to make great music.......2005-12-20
I love this cd so much. I take it out every now and then from the bottom of my collection and listen to it for a week or two on end and still love it as much today as I did when I first got it years ago. She is so brilliant and we miss her music. I love Superwoman, Secret Rendevous and Love Saw it. This is good music and I wish someone could make it as great if she isn't singing anymore. This is a cd for all RnB lovers and lovers in general.
Take me back to real R&B.......2005-07-27
This is one of her finest albums. I miss the way these songs made us feel and look at love and our life with great expectation or a knowing nod of the head because of the familiar situations she sings about. These songs would be good for marriages and relationships now, because they make you look at the value and importance of what you're in or what you shouldn't be in. These days R&B is becoming tasteless and monotonous. Karyn brought back classic story-line and real issues that were truthful but not degrading to our culture. It would be great to have her back in the studio again because there are still some of us that like real good music and good writing.
Superwoman was like an anthem for women when it first came out and she said what alot of woman would like to say without having to get "ghetto"....just graceful. Secret Rendevous is just a feel good jam brings remembrance of an old crush, (don't remember who, but I remember what a crush felt like)(smile). The Way You Love Me, Family Man, and Don't Mess With Me, were also feel good jams with great story-lines, fun to listen to and the names of the songs fits the expression of what's coming across in the song. Slow Down, Love Saw It (BabyFace),Tell Me Tomorrow, and One Wish are classic love songs perfected with smooth mellow tones. Love Saw It was a big hit back then. However, this album is repeat worthy in your cd player if you're taking a drive, working, or relaxing with some friends. As a matter of fact, your whole family can dance to it. It can set a great tone for weddings, a first date, a romantic night in, class reunions, or time spent chillin' next to a lake.
