Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars An even better album than its predecessor........2006-07-14

On this important 1988 release, Betty Wright honestly and frankly delves into the many facets of love, romance and relationships. Any one who has ever loved and lost (or been wronged) can easily relate to "It's Been Real" and "Lightnin'" while "From Pain To Joy" deals with the joy and happiness of finding your true love after pain, disillusion and heartbreak. Perhaps most importantly "Keep Love New" and the title track offer some important and true advice on keeping love and romance"new" for a lifetime. Superb.

5 out of 5 stars Great Voice.......2006-04-04

I have been looking for this cd for a long time. I remember hearing betty wright sing Quiet Storm as a kid. And the thing that caught my ear was the high note at end of the song. I thought to myself wow this lady has an incredible range. Everybody keeps going on about Mariah Carey and how great her voice is especially her high notes. I think she has even been put in the guiness book of world records for hitting the highest note ever recorded. I just want to let people know that Miss Wright has been hitting those notes long before Mariah came on the scene. She just never got the notoriety she deserved. I'm not trying to take anything from Mariah, after all I am a fan of hers. But I think Betty Wright can give her a run for her money when it comes to the high notes. Over all this is a great cd.

5 out of 5 stars This CD Is For Every12NJOY.......2002-06-27

Coming off of her biggest success in ten years with 1988's "Mother Wit", Betty dropped "4U2NJOY" a year later. Once again, she comes up with one hail of an album. My favorite cuts are "The Valley Of Lonely", which is a powerful ballad where Betty is trying to convince some dude to give her love a try, utlizing clever lines like "You look like the kinda guy who likes the finer things in life. That's why I want you to have me."

"From Pain To Joy" finds Betty asserting a new attitude of optimism after finding the love of her life, claiming "I hope I never have to sing about pain again, and somebody ought to say 'Amen'!"

"We Down" has Wright successfully experimenting with rap/hip-hop. She sounds like she's really having a ball on this cut. The almost impossible to find 12-inch vinyl version features an extended rap by Betty.

Another standout selection on this CD is the 2nd single release "Quiet Storm", a beautiful ballad about being in love with a quiet man where she raps, "Quiet men just seem to ring my bell. Girls prefer quiet men cause they don't kiss and tell."

This CD is increasingly becoming more difficult to come by. Don't miss out on this one if you can find it. It's definately worth seeking. This is classic R&B at it's best.
