Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Good...........2004-09-27

There are a lot of different bands out there trying to do there thing and make good CDS and after many listens to this CD I can say this classes among the best new stuff to come out recently. It is a solid CD with many highlights including my favourite 'Varona','Nirvana','Claim to fame' and 'Every day's a Saturday.' I guess its just one of those CD's you can throw on and enjoy every song.

5 out of 5 stars Good bunch of lads.......2004-09-22

This is a really fantastic cd. "Fast times in Tahoe" and "Everyday's a Saturday" will remain in my playlist for a while. To the passing ear, the lyrics are rediculously stupid, but they seem to be the only words that can fit into the music. Besides, after a couple of listens you want nothing else. I guess that means it's a vacation from normal music, which I think all music tries to be. Ok, enough philosophical BS. This is, as Goodshirt might say, Good.

5 out of 5 stars DEFINITELY one of "my 7 favorite records"!.......2004-04-02

I bought this CD on a trip to New Zealand. It's the most addictive CD I've ever found--everyone else who listens to it once listens to it for months and then some. The songs all have catchy lyrics (in wonderful Kiwi accents) and outstanding . . . well, everything.
"Nirvana" is an undeniable highlight and one of my favorite songs ever. A line from its chorus--"I like Nirvana/It doesn't mean I shoot myself"--is a perfect example of Elemeno P's clever and witty writing; and the drums in this song (as in all their songs) are also great fun. I can't explain how good and fun this song is--just listen to it, you'll get it.
"Verona" is also a highlight (in fact this CD seems to be all highlights): it tells a little story, and manages to be a happy song while also being endearing and amusing, which is an impressive feat. This song can't help but make you smile.
I won't go into the rest of the songs (that would take a while) except to say that they all make you smile when you listen to them (though most are break-up songs, e.g. "So long, it was nice meet you/I'll probably never see you ever again/Hold on, it was nice to hold you/It was a roller coaster to the end" and "They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder but I doubt it, I really doubt it/Playing ping-pong over oceans, messing with emotions, messing with my head"). The songs tend to get stuck in your head, and I know of few things that put me in a better mood than having an Elemeno P song stuck in my head.
There's also some extra fun to be had from the fact that this is a Kiwi band: they have cool accents, college is "university", they use phrases like "'til the cows come home"--minor compared to the gigantic enjoyment to be derived from the quality of their music, but still fun.
They say in "Nirvana", "I've got my seven favorite records and I play them on my stereo"--well, when I do that, Elemeno P's "Love and Disrespect" is always one of those seven.
