Clasic Isley Brothers.......2003-05-22
a Great Set&collection of Songs.I can never say enough about the Mighty Isley Brothers.they are timeless.Props to Ronald "MR.Biggs" Isley for always being so cool with His Voice&Great Talent.hard to Believe it's been as long as it has been for this Powerful Family Band.
There is a point.......2003-03-15
This is a best-of CD for the Isleys' Motown years during the second half of the 60s. If you want their earlier or later stuff, you won't find it here because this is made up of only their Motown product. With that in mind, enjoy these GREAT songs from the Detroit hit factory. It includes the immortal "This Old Heart Of Mine", their bumping version of Kim Weston's "Take me In Your Arms" (an R n B hit for them) and "I Guess I'll Always Love You" and "Behind A Painted Smile", the former a bigger hit in Britain than here, the latter never an a-side in the US. These songs are great 60s Soul music, and while their tenure at Motown is not as renowned as other periods in their recording history, nor are they a group one automatically thinks of regarding classic Motown, they have that classic sound (courtesy of the studio's stable of writers, producers and musicians, the Funk Brothers).
What's the point?.......2001-11-26
Even Amazon couldn't be bothered to spell out the full title of this CD, and I frankly can't blame them.
The Isleys have had one of the most extraordinary career in music, first charting in the late 1950's and having hits in every decade up to and including this one. (They had a top 30 hit in 2001!)
This supposed collection ignores about 45 of those 50 years, and such classics as Shout, Twist & Shout, It's Your Thing, Who's that Lady, Fight The Power, and Caravan of Love.
There's a good 2-CD Isley collection that covers their entire career. This CD can't even hold a candle to it.
