3 Stars.......2005-10-25
Your products are excellent but,you need to speed up your delivery time. I just canceled an order from Sept. 14th because the merchandise that I wanted was taking to long to get to you for delivery to me. It was a product that I was really looking forward tp. I was very dissapointed but because of the amount of time it was taking for me to get the product, I had no choice but to cance.
Do You Remember Don McPherson?.......2000-05-16
The Main Ingredient became much more famous on the national level once Cuba Gooding, Sr. took over as its lead singer. But the group was in fine hands under the direction of its original lead singer and defacto writer and producer, Don McPherson. This compilation features the biggest hits by both McPherson (You've Been My Inspiration, I'm So Proud, Spinning Around) and Gooding (Everybody Plays The Fool, Just Don't Want To Be Lonely). Its 20 tracks are split equally between the two singers, with many of the cuts differing from those on "All-Time Greatest Hits." McPherson recorded 3 albums with the group (L.T.D., Tasteful Soul, Black Seeds) and seemed on the verge of being recognized as one of the emerging talents on the soul music scene, when he fell ill. Listen to the maturedness of his sound on "I'm Leaving This Time" and "You Ain't Got It No Way." Don McPherson passed away of leukemia on Independence Day,1971, just four days shy of his 30th birthday. We don't know where The Main Ingredient would have gone had Don McPherson lived longer. (The Main Ingredient ceased writing their own material after his death.) We do know they enjoyed their greatest popular success with Cuba Gooding at the helm. If you are unfamiliar with the richness of tone and extraordinary range of Don McPherson, give this collection a listen. It also features some of the great moments on record of a fantastic showman, Cuba Gooding, Sr. UPDATE: Donald McPherson is buried at Long Island National Cemetery in New York.
Like fine wine, this recording gets better with time!.......1999-08-31
The music, the lyrics, the mellow tone of the voices are so relaxing. Like fine wine, this recording gets better and better each time I hear it. I would like to hear more of The Main Ingredient. Perhaps Cuba Jr. can get a group together.
balladry at it's best.......1998-10-20
again the masters of the soulful ballads are at it again, but this time, the balladiers are in tune with LOVE. MAIN INGREDIENT once again RULE.
Excellent Choice.......1998-07-29
For those people who still enjoy classic balladry, this cd is a must.
