Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Average Regardless of the Band's Talents........2005-12-16

As a fan of Funk/R&B it is sad for me to write a less than positive review of an SOS album but I am forced to do so. "Too" is an average album made worse by the extremely preachy tone of a couple of tracks. Producing excellent music with controversial messages was the recipe for some of the greatest albums in music history. In contrast when those messages are transmitted with average music it makes them more inflamatory (Preachy) than thought provoking. One of the highlights of the album for me was "Do It Now" is little more than a remix of "Take Your Time" which is somewhat disappointing. I do not recommend purchasing this album unless you are a die hard SOS band fan.

5 out of 5 stars Get's Too Much Flack.......2004-07-23

A few critcs who should know better give this excellent album alot of flack for being musically weak and lyrically preachy.
GIVE ME A BREAK!With the inicial 1,2,3,4 funky punch of "It's
A Long Way To The Top","Do It Now","There Is Now Limit" and
the catchy "You" 'Too' ALREADY beats the pants off of their
debut! The remainder focus more on ballad material highlited by
the topical "Do You Know Where Your Children Are?" and the
midetempo, romantic soul of "Are You Ready" before SOS buckle
down with the instrumental "For The Brothers That Ain't Here",
a driving,churning slab of funk/fusion with a throbbing beat
and jazzy,wailing saxaphone!So stop giving 'Too' a bad rap;I
recommend it HIGHLY over the bands debut!

5 out of 5 stars The Sound of the "Real" SOS Band..........2003-04-18

Due to the changing nature of musis and the demands of the music industry put on the R&B/Funk bands of the early 80's, SOS Band's second album is really the last time one really heard just how talented the band was. The later Jam & Lewis albums on show-cased Mary Davis and not the band itself...an example of how the era of the band in R&B/Funk was dying. "Too" never got the credit it deserved as a fine example of musicianship and writing. This album deserves the accolades usually given to really good rock bands that write good lyrics and play good music. Had this album been recorded in the mid-70's, it would have been more popular. The songs "Do You Know Where Your Children Are? (inspired by the Atlanta murders) , "For The Brothers That Ain't Here," and "Unborn Child" (about abortion) really show the serious-minded side of the group.
The SOS Band itself knew how to make great dance music, as in the case of "It's A Long Way To The Top." "Stay" has a great musical arrangement in which Mary Davis stretches out on. This is such an excellent album that went against the commercial flow and never got the credit it deserved. Check it out!
