Mo' HOgany.......2005-11-23
I made a copy of this CD last year. Monifah has matured a great deal on this CD. Her music is diverse and her songs are filled with sexual and sensual lyrics. This album has been certified Gold. The real reason why I wanted to purchase this CD because of the hit "Touch It". That was a hit. Monifah sings well andjust as good as any hip-hop soul diva. This CD should deserves recognition. This album proved that Monifah is the diva for the streets.
This CD has got only one good song..........2004-01-11
..and that is "Touch it". It's good steady soul but basically pretty boring and unspectacular. Monifah sings as well as always . Unfortunately I see no real highlights. A good & steady soul album and a nice new gem for your collection, but nothing sizzling
I really wanna touch it!.......2003-02-18
Monifah is probably the most famous artist of the past decade that nobody knows. When you say "Monifah" the typical answer will be "umm who?" "she did the song Touch It" "oh! I love that song!" "Touch It" was the first single, and it went platinum, but what did this album do? It went Gold, but nobodies heard it. I find that weird. I own all of Monifah's albums, this one falls in the middle, both in releases (it's number 2 of 3) and quality. You can't deny her voice, but many will question her writers and some of her production. It's just not equiped to carry her. And unfourtinally as good as she is, she can't carry the low points. My problem with this album lies in the rappers. I don't Particularly like these pairing songs. They tend to be contrived and boring. "Queen Pen" pops up here a few times, she just doesn't do anything for me.
I still give this 4 stars, why? Because the good outweights the bad. "Monifah's Theme/Bad Girl" is just plain good. a hot dance beat, sure the lyrics are pretty typical. But Monifah sounds sassy here, she has a lot of style. "Suga Suga" is a breathtaking slow jam, Monifah sure knows how to slow it down. She sounds sexy sexy sexy here. "Monfah's Anthem/Bad Girl II" is horrible. The first is so nice, this one has Total and Queen Pen, and the beat is corny.
This is a above average sophmore release. Monifah is one of my favorite singers, maybe her fouth album they'll have figure out how to promote and market her. It shouldn't be that hard, seeing how she actually has talent.
One can only hope.
Nooooo, Mo'Hagany, Mo'Hagany.......2002-12-28
What made Monifah think that she had to change her image, wear less clothes, and sing dirty lyrics to sell more records? She was doing fine on 1996's Moods...Moments (it did go gold, after all). When I heard "Touch It", which only sounds good in the club, I knew that no good would come out of this album.
There aren't many good tracks on here (well, there probably was back in 1998 when I bought it, but there are none worth remembering today). In fact, the only good song is the very last one, the gospel-flavored "I'm Loving You". This album made me not want to buy her following album, Home (but I don't think anyone else bought that album, either). If you wanna hear great R&B, I recommend her first album, but definitely NOT this one.
I FEEL HER FLOW.......2000-10-01
MONIFAH MONIFAH,Just the name is pulls me in.Highly one of the most over rated r&b singers out today. She has been featured on many artists album and has one of the rearest voices with her sophomore album she proves she's matured her hottest tracks are Touch It, Why, Suga Suga, other songs are good to.
