A great artist with some powerful songs.......2007-02-05

I love Rick James. I can't believe that it's been two years since he passed away. I love all of his songs. This cd has all of his songs, and it has made me appreciate his music. My favorite songs on this album are You and I, Island Lady, Fire and Desire, Happy, Ebony Eyes, and Cold Blooded. His duets with Teena Marie showcase his vocal abilities, and I can honestly say that he was an original funk artist, but when it came time to sing love songs, he did it with finesse and didn't miss a beat.

This cd has all the hits on it. From Mary Jane to SuperFreak to Give It To Me Baby, this contains all his best music and it reminds me exactly how great he was. If you are a fan of funk and of Rick, then this is for you. Even now, all of the songs are still tight and this is an enjoyable cd to blast out of the car or anywhere really. I love it.

Essence of Rick captured.......2006-01-03

This is the best collection of Rick James songs ever put together. For anyone with a love of funk and Ricks transformation of funk from the 70's into the 90's this is a must have. This is the artist that made funk mainstream. No disrespect to George Clinton, Con Funk Shun and so on. Rick James brought funk to pop radio and carried artist like the Gap band and the Bar Kays and Prince with him.

Coming from Australia, it's hard to get good funk..but not anymore! This is a must have collection for anybody who likes funk n' roll! I discovered Rick about 10 years ago on the Friday Soundtrack, since then I've always kept an ear out. I decided to buy a few of Rick's albums and I'm glad i did. This is one of the best. Would of been nice to have "Ghetto Life", "Call Me Up" and "Below The Funk (Pass the J)on this CD but it doesn't matter. You will thoroughly enjoy it none the less. Enjoy yourself bitches!! Ha Ha
