Customer Reviews:
Some of the best slow jams of the nineties.......2007-01-13
Dru Hill is a typical story in R&B where ego's destroy the group. Dru Hill was one of the last good groups to come out in the nineties who actually presented good quality R&B and all of the hits are here. Tell Me,How Deep Is Your Love, and Never Make a Promise and many more are here including my personal favorite Beauty. My main compliant with the CD is the songs are mostly all radio edits and there's too many weak tracks from the 2002 flop Dru World Order.
baby making music.......2006-11-05
You must hear track 9 for all music lovers. Everone that hears this cd and track want one for themselves.
great R&B.........one of the best groups.......2006-03-07
I have always liked Dru Hill's music. Their songs are so nice and beautiful. They did a good job compiling these songs, they are definately hits. I enjoyed mostly all of them. My favorites were: 5 Steps, We're Not Making Love, These Are The Times,The Love We Had, and Beauty. This is a very good CD. Mostly all the songs are beautiful.
Missing Something?.......2005-12-29
This has all of their greatest songs on it, I loved Dru Hill when they were out. They were almost on the level of Boys II Men (had they managed to stay together long enough)....BUT...I always thought that Jazz was the best singer. My favorite songs were Never Make A Promise and 5 Steps. Well.....if you buy the CD for either of those songs, be prepared....5 Steps cuts out half of Jazz's verse. The part that goes "and what was reality once, a love tru in form, is now added pain, to a man scorned....." any one else noticed that about that part? It's just....gone....otherwise I loved the CD.
Although, I hate that they added anything from the newly formed group that had 5 members. I hate that new guy. He completely threw the sound, the melody, the HARMONY off....lol but it's worth getting for all but the last two.
Last note...DARN YOU SISQO for messing up the group! I hope the "Thong Song" made all the money you hoped it would!!!!!
(4.5 Stars) Puttin' On The 'Hits'!!!.......2005-12-04
Dru Hill made a huge impact on the musical landscape that shaped the late 90s R&B sound. Once the new millenium hit however, things started to get a little rough around the edges with Sisqo venturing off to put out two solo albums. And even though he wasn't the only one to do so (Woody released a spiritual album in 2001), Sisqo pretty much sealed the fate for future Dru Hill albums. True, he had a huge debut solo album titled Unleash The Dragon, but his superstar status came crumbling down with silly remarks about him being able to sing any R&B cat under the table and a lackluster follow-up titled Return of Dragon.
And even though most greatest hits collections are truly what they say they are, the inclusion of Sisqo's solo hits should have been left off this collection. Besides that momentary lapse in judgment, Hits has just that....hits that you grew to love over the years from the quartet-turned-quintet with the introduction of Scola in 2002. It's jammed packed full of back to back jams like "Tell Me," "5 Steps," "In My Bed," "Beauty," "Never Make A Promise," "You Are Everything," "We're Not Making Love No More," "How Deep Is Your Love," "These Are The Times," and the remake "The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)." They even include "I Should Be..." "I Love You," and "No Doubt" from 2002's Dru World Order. Any true fan like myself has all the albums, so there is no real reason to go out and buy this collection. But for those that just want the jams, Hits should easily fit the bill. Now if they could just regroup and come back with another album, we'd all be happy!
