Customer Reviews:
When Time Stood Still.......2006-08-08
'Sincerely' was a marvellous counterpoint to so much other pretentious music emanating from the early 70s. Its fusion of Byrds/Turtles layering was an antidote to the slick sound that became The Eagles/America; more innocent days, perhaps, but a bouyancy that can elevate the days, now or then.'Tulsa' makes me feel Twilley hasn't missed a beat, happy to celebrate his mastery of a particular form of Rock as though nothing had happened since the 60s in the shifting social sands. I doubt he is even aware of quotes from Bobby Vee, or whoever, so sublimely and subtly have their influences been ingested by the Tulsa kid. Gene Pitney was stuck 24 hours from the place. J J Cale has returned there. Twilley's best music powers out of the place.
Twilley On Fire Once More.......2001-01-27
The Tulsa kid has left the carreer deadening environs of L.A. and gone home to Oklahoma to regroup with some of his original Twilley Band cohorts to produce his first record in nearly a decade. The result: hey now, moon and stars! This is vintage Twilley tunefulness with a new found sense of purpose. There's not a bad cut on this CD, but the highlights for me are the title cut (which is actually quite moving in it's evocation of home),"A Little Less Love", and "Miranda". Fans of honest, mature ,and downright fun rock n' roll here's your guy!Let's hope Dwight's creative reawakening stirs some magor label interest. He deserves it and his fans deserve it too.All in all this is a wonderful return to form, and somewhere, Dwight's old running buddy Phil Seymour is smiling. Me too.
15 Years Later..........1999-08-07
Yep, near "BOSTON" like time between new albums for our Dwight - but he did a MUCH better job in the interim! Mr. T sounds as great as he ever did; his now classic sound is nailed down effortlessly! I must admit to some worry as to how Dwight would sound after such a long hiatus; and without his singing partner Ms. Cowsill, would the "sound" still be there? I needn't have worried. The shame here is that a major label couldn't see fit to release this great power pop confection. Dwight hasn't lost his ability to conjure up a heartfelt ballad or a kickin' rocker. Thanks Dwight - but let's not take so long between releases next time, 'kay?
