Only A Few Good Songs!!!.......2005-12-25

I purchased this on vinyl when it first came out and was disappointed to find that it only had a few good songs on it. I'm Not In Love is still among my favorite 10cc songs to this day and is about the only real highlight on this CD. Life Is A Ministroni is a dumb song and a waste of vital space on a relatively short CD. Don't waste your money on this one!!!

Still nothing like it.......2005-04-11

10cc's "I'm Not in Love" was totally original in sound and production in the mid 70's. Growing up listening to Top 40 radio, we heard only the shortened edit which is a shame since the full song (6 minutes +) is a masterpiece both from a lyrical and production standpoint. I recall hearing at one time the group used a large chorus to get the massive backing vocal. Also slick is the heartbeat-like tempo.

My personal favorite part is the guitar solo on "Blackmail" but the whole album is chock-full of brilliant moments and turns... the lyrics are hysterical and intelligent, the playing and production are STERLING... even the cover art is gorgeous. This is one of my favorite albums from the 1970s. I've lost track of how many copies of this I've purchased over the years... this is really an album to love. Intercourse "Things We Do For Love" which blows monkey chunks (can we say 'played to death'?) but the rest of the tunes are TREASURES.... ESPECIALLY the magnificent solo on "Blackmail"! PARIS HILTON: LISTEN TO "BLACKMAIL" -- THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT YOU, HON!!!

Simply said, the Godley-Creme-Gouldman-Stewart procreative combination of catchy hooks, tight harmonies, and witty lyrics make 1975's "The Original Soundtrack", recorded at their creative, artistic and literate peak, a truly classic album. Even though the absolutely fantastic, beautiful, my personal favorite of all-time "I'm Not In Love" primarily put 10cc on the commercial map, every track from top to bottom on this album is in a class of its own -FIRST. 10cc is indeed one of the classic supergroups in the world of art-rock. Simple - this is an essential album sounding even better on CD.

Note: This album is not a real Soundtrack album to any movie, play, etc. It is just the "witty " name 10cc gave this gem.

Simply said, the unique, superb combination of catchy hooks and tempos, polished musical textures and absolutely clever, witty lyrics into their music by these 4 great musicians, Godley-Creme-Gouldman-Stewart, prove that they are the one of the greatest bands of 70's art-rock that to this day stands the test of time making 10cc a great band for the ages. "Original Soundtrack", with the classic, simply beautiful, personal all-time favorite "I'm Not In Love" is truly a classic album in the history of rock music with the band at its artistic peak. No brainer - simply get this CD if you don't have it.
