Customer Reviews:
Essential Collection: 1965-1997.......2007-03-20
This collection is truly essential for any Carpenters fan. The only thing missing in the wonderful book that accompanies the collection is the lyrics to the songs.
Completely Covered.......2007-02-14
This CD covers all the major hits
and throws in some Holiday music also.
I noticed this CD had Ave Maria on it and I wanted to hear her version.
Also Superstar, A Song for you and some interviews are included here.
I give the brother and sister team 5 stars.
A&M records really had a diverse group of artists signed to its label as a sign of the '70s music itself.
Great songs.......2006-08-22
I bought this CD for my sister because she is a big carpenters fan and she loves it.
Carpenters: The Essential Collection (1965-1997) is Complete Retrospective of Carpenter Music.......2005-08-07
Carpenters: The Essential Collection (1965-1997), is a remake of the original box set, "Carpenters - From The Top". The only difference is this box set has about a dozen songs not included on the "From the Top" collection. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with "The Essential Collection" as it is more complete.
Both sets give a complete retrospective of Carpenter recordings from their earliest in 1965, to 1997. The quality of the music and recordings is evident from start to finish. For someone wishing to have a fairly complete set of the most popular Carpenter songs, this is the set that I would recommend. Of course, there are other little known gems that are not included in this set. I have put together a listmania on "Little Known Carpenter Gems" if the reader has further interest.

Very Good CD.......2004-01-04
This set of cds puts the careers of The Carpenters into clear perspective. Some of the tracks that were recorded right before her death have been finished and are included on these cds. You'll really enjoy it. There are even some remixed tracks from the solo album on Disc 4
