Customer Reviews:
A Must.......2006-06-19
This album is a must for all Tina fans. Even though you have never tried her music before, you will love "In Deep". I dont know what to write since there are so many YES reviews already. I just want to recommend the other versions of "In Deep", the original Australian version in 1997, the French version in 2000, the UK version as well as the Mexican version with spanish bonus tracks. Tracklistings are different with bonus tracks --- I have 6 versions already!!!
In Deep - Very Good CD.......2005-12-27
I like to read the reviews Tina Arena seems to get from the American public on amazon dot com. Most people slam her. It
seems here in the U.S., we aren't interested in anything
other than Britney Spears and American Idol. Tina Arena is far better and more polished than, say, "Bo Bice", yet millions of Americans sat around the tube cramming popcorn into their faces hoping for the big American Idol starlet to be chosen. Then, they get on these boards and act like they are the ultimate reviewers. Sorry, but unless you're well-read, well-traveled, and know who Laura Pasini, Nek, Vangelis, and Paris Combo are, you can't really review a non-US artist with good judgement. I, personally, enjoy Tina Arena. I wouldn't slam her music just because I am American and pretend that I know quality music as my country pumps out Eminem and P Diddy as the "best of all time".
America its time to listen.. .......2005-11-29
Now I never heard of Tina Arena until only a few weeks ago when I bought the Zorro DVD. Singing since she was 7 she's a music veteran. Anyone who thinks she sticks is smelling their own poo.
So far I only own 3 CD's the first one is Tiny Tina when she was a child, In Deep and Just me. I really like her new look on Just me. Just say she looked happy and alive.
But hang on to you hats she has a new CD being released December 5th 2005. But its in French. Un Autra Univers~ Aimer Jusqu'a I'impossible. Though its in French you should still get it. If you wait and order it you may get it in January unless you already ordered it. Better hurry!! I've heard some clips from her new CD and her voice sounds more mature and seems to be leaning toward Adult Contempory.
I have now four CD's and more on the way. To me their worth every penny I spend.
Deep Soulful & Special Talent!!!!!!!.......2005-06-05
The first time I saw Tina Arena was when she performed on a Donna Summer special. From that moment I could see that she had something special. And far from being just any ordinary singer, she not only possesses a voice with power and range, but she is a song-writer as well. Her energy for her music is obvious.
This cd is rich with many, many ballads. If you love a singer who knows how to sing a ballad in a subtle fashion building to a strong finale then this cd is for you. "If I Was A River" is wonderful and brilliant. In this song, Tina's magnificent and mighty vocal stretches over a full chorus. "No Shame" is an infectiously grand vocal of unsurpassed brillance. There is a raw edginess to her voice here. Tina penned this ballad as well as most on this cd. "Sixteen Years" is certainly one ballad that is full of emotional tones of conviction. "Flashback" is a rousing uptempo soul number with an R&B feel. "In Command" is a multi-dimensional tune of experience. Almost haunting, Tina's vocal builds superbly from the beginning to the blow-out ending. "Unsung Hero" has marvelous lyrics, a very fine beginning and a gorgeous, explosive ending. "Now I Can Dance" is a spirited uptempo number with Latin undertones. The mature vocal strength in Tina's voice is evident. "I Want To Know What Love Is" can send you over the edge in it's brilliance. This vocal is very fine, deep, grand, satisfying. The final song, "I Want To Spend My Life Loving You", a duet with Marc Anthony from the movie "Zorro" is a triumph.
Tina began as a childhood singer and has much more ground to cover as an adult. Her career got off to a great start with this cd which was well received internationally, yet she only derailed (briefly, we hope) when her marriage to her manager went sour. Living in London and now on a French label, she is an international star. Each of her cds has something different to offer. Perhaps she is not necessarily looking for a niche, but instead enjoys the varieties that music offers. With talent this great, as she matures vocally, there clearly is much more to come.
Good but expected more........2005-03-01
I recently found out about Tina Arena and tried this CD. It was a good CD but a little too mellow for my taste. My favorite song on the CD was the duet with Marc Anthony "I want to spend my lifetime loving you" from the movie The Mask of Zorro. Although this CD didn't blow me away I will try another one of hers because she is a very gifted vocalist with a strong voice. I was stunned to read some of the reviews here that claim she can't sing. Check out the Andrew Lloyd Webber DVD "The royal albert hall celebration" to see Tina Area give an incredable performance of the song "Whistle down the road". Tina Arena CAN SING.
