Customer Reviews:
Absolutely amazing music..........2002-09-06
I swear this music is otherworldly (and I'm not talking geographically). It is soothing, hypnotic, mesmerizing stuff. I wouldn't go so far as to say it is actively engaging but, when played in the background, it transforms the environment. Over time the melodies become clear and each listen is like returning to an old friend who company has always provided comfort.
Both volumes 1 and 2 form a companion set and are worth owning. I can't vouch for the CD (I used to go to sleep by a friends' copy a number of years ago but it, and he, is gone...) and can only speak of the vinyl LP but it sounds absolutely amazing. There are moments of great boldness and power and moments of solitude and silence. This music provides a great way to unwind or to contemplate the mysteries of the universe.
All of Kitaro's stuff, especially his older stuff, is excellent. Allow yourself the pleasure.
Always great........2002-02-10
In the dense genre of electronic music there are only a couple that set themselves apart as being truely unique. Kitaro is one of them. All his music has a similar style, but each is different in it's own way. They are amazing to listen to as background music or to relax to. Or just turn it up really loud and picture different places and times. His music is deep and beautiful like a painting that you just have to study for days and days. Well worth buying.
Great lovemaking music!.......1999-10-18
I first heard Silk Road when I was making love with this wonderful, sensual man many years ago. We only dated for a short time, but we always played this music during our lovemaking. Silk Road still has that sensual connection for me, and that's why I went looking for it just now, and am thrilled to find it.
A journey into the subconscious............1999-08-05
Kitaro is an everlasting wonder, a man of pure magic. This album is the most exceptional piece of image inducing medicine. The build of the first notes and throughout the album conjure up imaginary worlds never thought to have existed. My personal favorite being "Flying Celestial Nymphs". Remarkably soothing and relaxing music. The most "complete" music one could ever want to hear.
Something...unbelievable.......1999-06-08
I remember when Silk Road series came out from the TV. I didn't know anything about Kitaro, but I was immediately obsessed with the music. This was the first album I bought and I think that it's one of the best I've ever heard. Especially the first melody is still my favourite. Thank you Kitaro for making such music!
