Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Interesting songs, voice very flat.......2003-10-30

The song construction and lyrics are the best part of this CD. The vocals, I am sorry to say, are the least complimentary. Knight's voice is flat and at times harsh. I have listened to the CD several times in order to try to change my mind but have not. In my opinion, it would definitely be better as an instrumental CD. There is a lot of other goddess/pagan music I would recommend before this CD. Sorry!

5 out of 5 stars Great pagan vibe!.......2002-07-01

Sharon Knight is amazing. Beautiful voice accompanied by wonderful music. If you like Loreena McKennit, you might like Ms. Knight--just keep in mind that her music has more of a driving beat and modern flavor than most of Ms. McKennit's. If you're looking for awesome music with a pagan flavor, you can't do better than this CD!

5 out of 5 stars worth buying.......2002-01-01

I bought this CD without ever hearing it. I'm glad I did. At first I didnt like it because it didnt feel very "paganish" to me, but after listening to the words I realized that this CD is indeed very pagan and very fun to listen and dance to. Black Jack Davy is my favorite song on here, it will make you want to dance and sing along. To all you pagans out there, I would definatly recommend this CD. The only thing I dont like about Sharon Knight is that she has a bit of a lisp, and its hard to ignore that when listening to the songs.

5 out of 5 stars As Bardic as CD Can Get........1999-08-01

Having been familiar with Sharon Knight's work with Pandemonaeon and Walkabout, I had originally expected something similar with this album -- funky Pagan dance grooves, Middle Eastern trance percussion, and Sharon's fierce voice.

Don't get me wrong; I got all of that and more. But what surprised me was the bardic quality of the disc. With Incantation, Sharon Knight has reclaimed the age old tradition of storytelling, and leaves her listeners spellbound with the intriguing stories behind the music. Anyone who gets chills from an old Irish tale will adore this CD, as will anyone who looks for those multi instrumental dance tunes fans of Knight's band work have come to love.
