This is wonderful music that defies categorization. It is very relaxing but deeply thoughtful music. The musicians on this have taken some early compositions from 500 to 2000 years old and interpreted them in their own way. They are very successful at their aim. I suppose the best description, although it falls short of the depth of this project, is that they have created music that has succeeded at what "New Age" music has failed at - substance. The musicians are highly accomplished at their instruments and never over play on this material. I'm most familiar with Bruce Arnold the guitar virtuoso whose recordings cover a wide variety of jazz that incorporate twentieth century classical styles and twelve tone concepts.
