Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars On a par with the great jazz guitarists of today..........2002-09-22

Jim Savitt's guitar playing is being compared to the likes of George Benson, Peter White and Marc Antoine. Very good company to keep, indeed, and the more I listen to the Hear & Now cd, the more I'm agreeing with those comparisons. The arrangements are slick and very well polished. The cd contains 12 original tracks written and produced by Jim with the exception of Empty Room which was written and produced by Nkossi Konda. With the addition of some great sax by co-producer David Mann, Hear & Now turns out to be an exceptional calling card for Jim. The opening track, SoHo, is a beautiful interweaving of Jim's guitar talent and David Mann's soulful sax playing. I was particularly struck by the latin flavor of From The Heart and a couple of others. Lanny Ward adds his touch with the tenor and soprano sax on Looking Back and On The Way. A couple of these tracks seem ready for some prime-time radio play on my local Smooth Jazz station. I think this album will mark the entry of Jim Savitt into mainstream, contemporary smooth jazz. And the next guitarist who enters the scene will be compared to George Benson, Peter White, Marc Antoine and Jim Savitt.
