Customer Reviews:
best of OP.......2005-12-05
Much better than their Dreams album. This one has a bit more personality to it. While it only has one track with a guitar in it , that track is so good that it doesn't matter. The next album tried to include more guitar but no song really stood out on that.
Sorry Leif and Lars, I just like this album better.
Darkwave at it's finest.......2003-02-06
Slow, menacing, and superbly creepy tracks to chill your spine. Twinkling chimes, harpsichords, eerie choirs, and warm synths swirl about on top of swinging electronic dance beats to create a layer of lush Gothic/Industrial darkness. An unsteady, ominous voice whispers the mischievous and sadistically playful lyrics, thus when paired with the frightful musical backdrop, one might wonder if Tim Burton took up an alias and abandoned film for a career in musical composition. The music of Oneiroid Psychosis stands out because there are very few bands out there that can be this sinister and dark without taking themselves too seriously; no where on this disc is found the deep, once foreboding now over done Andrew Eldritch-like vocals that have become cliché. And when you step back, there is definitely an almost `fun' aspect to this band, though the music and lyrics are so well crafted that not for a moment do they come across as cheesy. Truly a rewarding listen to those dark at heart.
Atmospheric, melancholy and wonderful!.......2002-02-14
This cd has all the right sounds if you enjoy dark music with a spooky edge. This cd is definately worth buying...though it's hard to find them in regular music stores. Try specialty stores or order online. :-)
full of chills.......1999-10-06
This album will give you dark dreams, that is for certain. A definite improvement from Stillbirth, this work flows smoothly and avoids the drabness that hurt some of Stillbirth's songs.
Garden of Remembrance has managed to do what very few other albums (such as Beautiful Chaos by Megaptera) have managed to do... give me actual chills hearing some of the songs.
The imagery has improved as well. Stillbirth was filled with overly done (and more traditional) frights such as vampirism and succubi, that unfortunately were boring rather than dark. Garden of Remembrance however has a hauted doll (Galatea), some nameless fear caught for but a few minutes in sound (Mircalla), and a frightful chase (October). Excellently crafted darkness turned to sound pervades the entirety of the album, so if you want something to chill you (or your friends), this is a great choice.
