Intense keyboard percussion duet delivers.......2004-10-25

I chose this album purely by chance. What a pleasant surprise! Although both of these men play classical music this is not a classical album. This is modern improvisational music performed on keyboard percussion. Each musician trades off duties on both vibraphone and marimba. Both of these artists are highly respected for their mastery of not only the instruments featured in this recording but a myriad of others as well. This album gets better with each listen. They play very well together and never get in each other's way. I can listen to this album to fall asleep to, to work to, or even to play along myself! The quality and of the recording is on par with the ECM label. If you're not familiar with that label, their recordings are considered to be some of the finest in the world. I'll admit that the album errs on the mellow side but there is plenty of dynamic interplay and startling moments of improvisation. Expect nothing less than the best from these two brilliant percussionists of the highest order.
