Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Lovely Christian Music.......2006-03-26

I don't see an agenda here. Nor do I sense that this music is a result of some sort of drug induced state as was suggested by the reviewer that has copy and pasted multiple 1-star reviews on most of Marty's albums here at Amazon. If you are opposed to anything not sounding like a chant, then you probably won't enjoy this uplifting music. For now, I'll try to take the higher ground and enjoy some more of this inspiring music

1 out of 5 stars Really, REALLY bad music!.......2006-01-06

If you are 50+ years old and were a hippie back in the day, then you will love this album.

However, if you have a vital relationship to Christ in the Eucharist and find that you desire to be more like John Paul II than Mick Jaggar, then you will most likely know what it is like to suffer through an aging Boomer dominated liturgy having to listen to the banal diddies of Mr. Marty Haugen.

The vista of the transcendent ought to be reflected in liturgical music - simple Chant, Classical Hymns, and Choral music do this very well because there is no agenda in the music other than Beauty.

The music of Mr. Haugen betrays his agenda to re-make Catholicism into something that resembles the folk-hippy-holiness of the Boomer's drug induced "mystical" connectedness of their youth (notice all the happy people holding hands around the world, as if this is all we need to over come sin and moral evil in the world - hand holding).

To find out why this music is so bad check out the Society for a Moratorium on the Music of Marty Haugen and David Haas:

http://www.mgilleland.com/music/moratorium.htm

This music is the fruit of Woodstock and pot culture brought into the sanctuary.

Judge for yourself. Just listen to the free clips above and ask yourself, "In 200 years time, will the Catholic Church still be singing these songs and consider them 'sacred music'?"

Me thinks not.

Spend your money on some solid Gregorian Chant instead.

5 out of 5 stars great for relaxing at the end of the day.......2000-11-17

I originally bought this CD because I enjoy other music by Marty Haugen and David Haas. Their songs are quite familiar in our Catholic church and I found them nice to listen to and sing along with for my newborn twins. The boys are now 16 months old and we all love to wind down at bedtime with the instumental versions of these songs. As Tim Vakoc said above, this is music that everyone will enjoy. I look forward to more instrumental works by these gentlemen.

5 out of 5 stars Inspiring, beautiful music!.......2000-06-13

This CD is wonderful! The muscicians really do Mr. Haugen's music justice here, with achingly beautiful interpretations of his popular songs. It's one of my very favorite CDs.

5 out of 5 stars This is wonderful music, I play it in my office and home!.......1999-02-02

I listen to this CD when I need to relax, pray and to have music in the background of my office! Co-workers are always stopping by to listen and make positive comments about the music!
