5 out of 5 stars Edges of the Soul.......2005-02-28

Harold Moses'music never fails to touch me. I find that Edges of the Soul has the effect of always opening my heart, allowing the stress of the day to evaporate and bringing my spirit to a place of beauty and harmony. There was a time that I was facing extensive dental surgery. Playing 'Edges' through the earphones helped to remove the anxiety I would have otherwise felt, leaving me relaxed and peaceful.

5 out of 5 stars Edges of the Soul.......2005-02-12

Edges of the Soul has taken me on many journeys. Beginning in the Circle, and moving through the cycles of life, returning into the circle, where life is never-ending. Edges of the Soul takes me on a journey into the center of my heart, and expands into the universe, taking me into a different place where my heart needs to travel, through the weaving of the oboe and viola through out the journey.
It is truly an expansive soul journey.

1 out of 5 stars Shameful Sham.......2004-05-05

I was extremely disappointed with Mr. Moses' latest attempt (1995). Unlike "The Drone", which showed creativity and inspiration, this work has as much depth as instant coffee: the color is there, but no flavor.

4 out of 5 stars Moving.......2002-11-27

The album starts out with some moving pieces. Then several songs in a row are very ethereal, which I think helps the listener be calmed for the very moving pieces towards the end. This is an album you must listen to from beginning to end, it builds upon itself. Mr. Moses has some heart-opening and hauntingly beautiful viola playing. I rate it four stars instead of five because I think the ethereal section goes on too long. I would buy this CD again.

I was introduced to Mr. Moses' work via his album "The Drone". By far my favorite of his work because it is so unique, simple and powerful. It is 60-minutes of a drone of Western musical notes C and G, making a perfect fifth. There is nothing else on the entire CD but this drone and there is never a break in it for 60 minutes. I used to not be able to hear overtones, but now I can, and The Drone is chock full of them.
